    3. Does anyone recall publications containing pictures of the families of French Creek, particularly Talbotts(Tolberts) and Coleriders? Would like to put some faces with the names. My grandfather Lowell Talbott wrote many stories for local and regional publications and provided the art as well. I would be very appreciative if someone knew of him and the names of any periodicals publishing his work. Also looking for obituary or article of my grandmother, Mary Alice Smith (Eichlor) and ggrandfather Cleburne Braxton Smith. She and my grandfather came to Upshur County from Putnam County in the 1930's to work in the mines. She passed away January 16,1962 and Cleburne passed away November 2, 1946 and both were buried at the MT. Olive Methodist Church Cemetery. They were the parents of my grandfather Arnett Monroe Smith, who died in Adrian in 1981. I have some data on Cleburne, but can find nothing on Mary Alice. Thanks in advance Chris Smith

    3. Kevin, they are listed on page 147 of Wes Cochran 1851-1896 Upshur Co., WV marriages. Eli Wilson 46 yrs. widow, b: Harrison Co., living in Doddridge, s/o Isaac & Nancy married Emily Williams 39 yrs. b: Upshur Co. d/o Solomon & Rachel on Mar 2, 1894. Kevin you need to check Doddridge county for their place of burial from the fact he was living there in 1894, so I would feel he took his bride and went home. 1. Re: [WVUPSHUR-L] Bean Family
    2. From Cutright's "History of Upshur County," originally published in 1907. "CHARLES BEAN, merchant at Beans Mill, 15 miles south of Buckhannon, is a native of the County. Born in 1856, his parents were Henry Bean and Julia a. Bosley, who immigrated from Hampshire County to Upshur County in 1852, Mr. Bean was raised on a farm and in the mill now owned by him. He has been a successful merchant as well. He married Isabella Phillips, daughter of Lafayette Phillips, and to this union have been born three children whose names are Wesley, Floyd, Lavidia. GABRIEL BEAN is the son of Henry Bean, who immigrated to this County from Hampshire County. The father was a millwright and a miller, and built and operated the first mill at what is now known as Beans Mills. Mr. Bean married Ladassa Burr, daughter of Eldridge Burr, Jr., and to this union were born eleven childres, Iona, wife of Willis Loudin; Biddy, wife of Dow Bosley; Adda, wife of Frank Kutt; Maud, wife of Thomas E. Cunningham; Minnie, wife of David McCann; and (the unmarried), Effie, Flossie, Charles, William, Cleveland and Benjamin. Mr. Bean was a soldier in the Civil War, being a private in the Upshur Battery, Company E, Light Artillery. He served throughout the war and is now a pensioner. He has been a faithful, loyal member of the U. B. church at Indian Camp for thirty years, and class leader." I hope this helps. Buzz Brake Tacoma, WA
