This is addressed to all of the good people on the Upshur Co. website list. Does anyone have any information on the Rev. William Nicholas Childress (1819 - 1901) and/or his wife Martha Ferrell? He was an ordained Methodist minister. They left 12 children and I am descended from a daughter Mary Anne who married James Scott Toms, my great grandfather. Several of us have tried to establish where "Rev. Billy" came from and who his parents were but have always hit a stone wall in our efforts. He, and four of his sons, were also very active in the Masonic Lodge (which I believe was in the Rock Cave area) so if anyone knows anyone who is connected with that lodge today maybe he could help us with our search.
