I didn't ask Valerie if I could forward, but I'm sure she wouldn't mind. I think think this is a great idea, and if we all start really checking our "wills", and etc., we can find all kinds of pertinent info. I know I have, and have found some info I passed over originally, or didn't find important to anyone but the line I was working on, that just might help someone. Hope I haven't stepped over "the line" concerning this, but we are always saying that "genealogy is the art of helping others", and we usually are re-paid ten-fold, aren't we? I realize this is a touchy subject but unfortunately a lot of slave info was destroyed. Even headstones of slaves and African Americans were removed from graveyards. It's a sad, sad story but neither you nor I participated. > > Please, if you come across any mention of slaves, free African Americans, multi-racial (German or Indian mixes), or Mulattos, keep me and other researchers in mind and pass the information on. Most African Americans stemmed from the southern states and islands and gradually branched out. Sometimes we were allowed to take an owner's name, previous owner's name, plantation name, or first or middle name of the father if he was White ...
