    1. Re: [WVTYLER-L] Elizabeth ANKROM
    2. Brian D Core
    3. Lenore, I really don't have any Ankrom lineage- only that Andrew J. Ankrom married my g-g-g grandfather David Garrison's daughter, Elizabeth. Andrew Ankrom was born in 1838, and died in Tyler Co. in 1917. He is buried in the cemetery at the Methodist Church in the village of Wick. Elizabeth was born in 1841, and died in 1871. She is buried in the same place. After Elizabeth died, Andrew married Mary Ella Bullman. Andrew and Elizabeth had four children, named David, Catharine, Nelson, and John. All were born in the 1860's. The Ankroms were one of the more prominent families in Tyler Co., and Ancrum was certainly one of the variations. You'll find lots of people in Tyler researching the same family. There was a book written about the family, sort of. It isn't so much a book as it is a collection of family group sheets. I don't have it, but you may be able to purchase it somewhere or find somebody on the list to do lookups. Thanks for replying, Brian Brian D. Core P.O. 3. Jean Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have Ankroms all over, but not in my direct line. I took a little time to visit WV this summer, and made a pilgrimage to the village of Wick in Tyler Co. to visit the grave of my g-g-g grandfather, David Garrison, in the cemetery at the Methodist Church. There is a large Ankrom plot there, as you may know. Andrew Ankrom's marker is large enough to suggest that he may have been a pretty successful farmer. Elizabeth Garrison Ankrom is buried in the same cemetery, but not in the same plot as her husband, who remarried. I encounter the Ankrom surname frequently when researching Greene Co., PA and Frederick Co., MD, where I also find frequents references to the somehow related Ducketts. 3. Dear Brian, The Hannah Bullman you mentioned was the daughter of Andrew and Mary Ann Cornell Bullman. Andrew Bullmans mother was Clarissa Ankrum, daughter of Aaron Ankrum and Mary Ann Cornell's mother was a sister to Clarissa. So you have Ankrums all over the place. Of course Andrew Bullman was the son of John Bullman and there is my stone wall. Is it possible, anyone out there, that his name was John Buhlman? Jean Loudin

    2. Brian, I'm interested in your Ankrom lineage. My 3rd Gr Grandparents were Lewis Jones b: abt 1803 and Rebecca Haines. They married in Tyler August 23, 1824. Apparently Rebecca died..no death date found yet..and Lewis married Elizabeth Ankrom. I have been unable to find that marriage and do not know if there were children from the second marriage. I have noticed another lister is looking for the surname Ancrum. Wonder if this is another variation of Ankrom? Can you shed any light on the above? Thanks very much, Lenore

    3. I'm descended from David Garrison, who lived near Wick in Tyler County from 1860 until his death in 1878. His father was Leonard Garrison of Greene Co., PA. David's wife was Catharine Engle, daughter of Peter Engle, from Germany, Frederick Co., MD, and Greene Co., PA. David and Catharine are buried in the cemetery behinf the United Methodist Church in the village of Wick. Their daughter Elizabeth was the first wife of andrew J. Ankrom, son of Nelson Thomas Ankrom. Their son Daniel married Elizabeth Hickman, and moved to Ritchie County. David & Catharine's son David married Hannah Bullman, daughter of Andrew & Mary A. Bullman. Their son John D. Garrison married Drusilla Cornell, daughter of Aaron Cornell & Rebecca Long. Their son Irad married Sarah Ellen Ash, daughter of Peter Ash & Elizabeth. My great-aunt Mildred Garrison Kinnan of Morgantown just wrote a letter in which she describes Irad Garrison's bewilderment at indoor plumbing. Irad was a Civil War vet, and had never seen a flush toilet until shortly before his death in 1918, when my Aunt Mildred was a young child. So, I'm researching the immediate family of my g-g-g grandfather, David Garrison. Brian Brian D. Core P.O.
