Anybody researching this line? Just spend some time in the library and found out that ole Alf had a bunch of children from at least of couple of ladies. Guess he didn't get married. Anyway, one of the ladies was Matilda Rhodenbeck. Anybody know anything about her ancestors. I guess she was born in Ohio. Must be an interesting story here. Alf ran an establishment of some kind. Thanks,,,,Lyle Corder
Hi, Just checking. I found a note to me in a digest which I had not seen come through the list and it made me thing I might have missed some email. I almost missed that one. So, if anyone was expecting an answer and I didn't get back to you let me know (re: lookups). Best wishes, Christina http://pw1.netcom.com/~ninah/ninah.htm
If anyone would like to search the list for the previous year (we have been in operation one year now) go to: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl In the box for list put WVTyler-L. It will bring up the archives for our particular list and you can do word searches. Good luck, Christina
CHRISTINA, THANKS FOR THE PROMPT REPLY ON MY INQUIRIES CONCERNING ABRAHAM LEWIS. I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT HIM OTHER THAN HE MARRIED MARGARET WATERS DAVIS AND HAD A DAUGHTER NAMED SARAH A. LEWIS. THEY HAD SARAH IN 1851 IN DODRIDGE COUNTY, VA. SHE MARRIED JOHN WILLIAM STULL IN 1868 IN TYLER COUNTY, VA. I HAVE OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS THAT SAID THEY HAD PERSONALLY LOOKED UP THE MARRIAGE RECORD OF JOHN AND SARAH AND ABRAHAM AND MARGARET WERE LISTED AS HER PARENTS. I HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO GO ON. HOPING YOU CAN HELP. TABATHA

Nina I made a marvelous discovery this year, that my maternal grandmother, Margaret S Rex, is one of hundreds of Rex descendants listed in a published book (George Rex Genealogy). That was the plus--the minus is that I have been unable for years to find where or when she died. The book says she and her baby (my father) died in child birth (not true). She was born in Ohio ca 1872 and married my grandfather, Edward Ward, in Dec 1892 in Steubenville Ohio. They lived in Toronto Ohio at least until the birth of my father in 1896. She died some time shortly thereafter. I have a copy of a page in death notices of a probate court that says a Margaret S Ward died in Sistersville WV in Feb 1896 of typhoid fever but I have not been able to obtain any kind of confirmation of that death from Sistersville or from the West Virginia division of Culture and history. Any suggestions of where to go next? jack ward jackw1@flash.net

I would be glad provide a free LOOKUP in my collection of Genealogy CDs. I have a goodly number of them. Please tell me where - the place/State, the name, first and last, and the time frame or other identifiers. It helps me. I do lookups for a county in the mid-west and often get only a name. I can't tell what to do without more to go on. I have CDs for: Pennsylvania Gen. Mag PA German Church records County and Family Histories: PA 1740-7900 Early Settlers of NY State Colonial Genealogies #1 CT Genealogies (forget abt Manwarings!) As the year comes to an end, I always like to look over whether the previous year brought anything significant to my research. If you would like to tell us abt any progress you have made even unrelated to this county, I think it would be a boost as we look to our next year of ancestor hunting. As for me, nothing in Tyler County, but that I would shout to the rooftops. I did find some possibilities on a couple of other lines. The last couple of weeks I have developed some strong ideas on the parents or at least birthplace of my Fanny Combs who was in NY but born in CT in 1788. I am pretty sure I have found her sister, which got me to concentrating my search in the neighboring county. I found the same first names of Oliver and Solomon in both Oneida Co NY and in Hartford Co., CT. This is still in the maybe stage, but at least I am still hopeful. BTW, I have seen that there were Combs in WVA. They are heavily in KY so I have only found one person who is researching them where I am. I like to look back and think the last year has at least provided some leads or new ways of thinking abt an ancestor. Anyone else??? Happy Holidays! Hello Christina I have searched for my Martin family for so long without finding even a small tidbit, that I find myself very discouraged with it. My first Robert Martin was born in Monroe County, Ohio in 1819. It would seem that he got into this world all by himself as I can find no hint of parents and siblings for him. My second Robert Martin [grandson of the first on] lived and raised his children in West Virginia. Sistersville, in Tyler County, seems to be where a lot of them ended up. He was a circut rider with the Methodist Church, but agan, no records appear. I have a lot of information from the first Robert in 1819 to present, but a lot of information is still missing. I would be elated to share anything I have with anyone that may see a connection. I refrain from posting all the dates, names and places as I have done this so many times before. I guess I don't want to bore anyone during this joyous season. On the up side of my genealogy searching, I have had an huge breakthrough on my Dad's side. I've had oodles of information come to me concering the Meddles family in Marion and Union Counties, Ohio. Again, I would be thrilled to share information. Thanks for giving us the chance to share the good with the bad here in this world that only a genealogy nut would understand. I wish for you, and for everyone reading this, a very joyous season and a prosperous new century. Joycee Meddles Palmer Martin, Moore, Meddles, McMullen, Poole, Palmer

Hi! It's me - Christina. I was having lots of trouble with my email program and went back to a simpler program. Alas, I can't change my email name to read Christina Hunt, so you will see me as Ninah. Same person though. :-) I just wanted to recommend that if you get a chance, you check out the LDS online research outlines. I wanted to find out about a state I have not researched yet and the guide was very useful. It also has links to the catalog so you can easily get the film order #'s. These are the same guides the Family History Centers sell. The url is: http://www.familysearch.org/sg/ Scroll down to where the individual states are and look for "Research Outline". Hope you are all enjoying the holidays. I should bake some cookies instead of looking at this computer, but ... Best wishes, Christina aka Nina
HAPPY HOLIDAYS List, I 'm busy like all of you, but decided to do a quick check on the "Historic Pittsburgh Collection," which Suzanne Jones was kind enough to share. I typed in a few surnames and came up with a list of pages that had information on both the Gerard and Corbly families. You can go directly to the pages mentioned with one click. Susie was not exaggerating. It is an awesome and useful website. Thanks so much for sharing. Merry Crhistmas Everyone! Lenore
