DAM....... And I don't mean the Tygarts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROOTSWEB will not allow attachments or HTML. STONE AGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone that wants a lot of info on the dam and the Cities buried and the Graveyards that were moved, please send me a request. I am sending a large amount of data regarding the Tygart Dam and backwaters. It will identify sunken cities and identify the cemeteries that were relocated. Because of its size, I will send it in manageable parts. All the data except the attached picture came from the Taylor County Historical & Genealogy Society. It was provided by Margaret Lew IT IS VIRUS FREE COURTESY OF NORTON. Regards, Noel E. Chenoweth, 73 De AL7FL Certified Professional Curmudgeon An Ethnic W.Va. Hello fellow listers, Do any of you know if the Arnold Cemetery in Knottsville is still in existence? Someone told me he thought it had been flooded by the Grafton Dam. Thanks. Marci Marci O'Malley Northwestern University/Otolaryngology 320 E. Superior St., Searle 12-561 Chicago, IL 60611
I will check and see what I can find out for you....Ken
There is an excellent book just out on the Carder family of Culpepper Co, VA; Hampshire, Harrison and Taylor counties of WV. Lyle Corder
Dear Carol: I have info on the Ironside Cem and know where it is. Margaret Garrett is listed as: b1797, d1881. The cem is on Rt 50 between Bridgeport and Pruntytown. It is near the Meadland Road. It is right beside Rt 50; it is completely overgrown with large trees. You can see markers from the road. I haven't been in the cem but it looks like you could find markers there without much problem. You will have to park in someone's driveway to get to it, however. No where to park along the road. I have a list of the 60 marked graves there. Lyle Corder
Can anyone give me directions to Astor Cemetery, supposed to be in Flemington, Taylor Co. I have a JOHNSON KELLEY buried there from 1881. Is there a book of records available from that cemetery? I am planning a trip there soon and would like to find the grave. Thank you, Carol Garrett
Can anyone tell me where the 'Ironside Baptist Cemetery' is in Taylor Co.? Is it the one in Puntytown?? I have a MARGARET CURREY GARRETT buried there from 1881. Is there a book of records somewhere that is available?? I am planning a trip there soon and would like to find the grave. Thank you, Carol Garrett
Does any one have a 1900 census of Taylor Co.? If so could you look for a George E. and Sarah E. Davidson or Davission, and their children. There were 11 children and these are some of their names. Jessie, Carl, Holmes, Ruth, Forest, and Roy. Many thanks. Diana
Dear Diana: I don't think anybody has printed this census for purchase...Lyle
