    3. I also found marriage records for at least three childen. Thomas J. Durvin, 35 married Kate Doyle, 33 in Summers County in 1891. He was born in Louisa County, VA and she in Rockbridge County, VA. His parents were John W. and Mary C. Durvin and hers, Ellis H and Lucy Doyle. Edwin M. Hall, 22, and Martha L. Durvin, 20 on Dec. 24, 1884 in Summers County. He was born to Dudley and Amelia Hall in Hanover County, VA and she was born in Louisa County, VA to John W. and Mary C. Durvin. James T. Timberlake, 24 and Lucy G. Durvin, 24 on July 20, 1884 in Summers County. He was born to Phillip and Mildred Timberlake in Louisa County, VA and she was the daughter of John W. and Mary C. Durvin. She was also born in Louisa County. What is interesting is that Thomas and both brothers in law all worked for the rail road. I also found a death record for Edwin Hall who passed away at the age of 92. States that he was buried in Greenbrier County and he was a widower when he passed. I was not able to locate a death record for his wife. Another death record that I found was for a William Lee Durvin, aged 88. It states that he was also born in Louisa County, VA but does not give his parents name. He was married to Annie Elizabeth Durvin who passed in 1961. Both are buried at Spring Hill Cemetery in South Charleston, WV. I hope this helps you in your research. Anita McClung Fayette County, WV ________________________________ From: durvin <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wed, July 6, 2011 8:26:52 PM Subject: [WVSUMMER] John Washington Durvin I'm trying to find any information on my great, great grandfather, John Washington Durvin.  He was born in Louisa Co. VA abt. 1820.  He married Mary Catherine Gunnell in 1841 in Louisa Co.  I can find him and his wife in the 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses in VA.  He was a Confederate veteran and his widow applied for a pension in 1902 in Hanover Co. VA.  She stated in her application that her husband had died in Hinton, WV 'on or about' 22 June 1893.  She also states that she has been living in Hanover Co for the past 8 years - or starting in abt. 1894.  I assume that she and her husband moved to WV sometime between 1880 (when they were living in Hanover Co.) and 1893 when John W. Durvin died in Hinton.  John was treated by a Dr. S. P. Peck of Hinton.  I contacted the Summers Co. WV clerk of the court and they had no death certificate for John W. Durvin in 1893.  They may have searched for the wrong time period (?) or looked for the wrong name - his wife used the surname 'Dervin" when she applied for the pension (rather than Durvin). Since they may have moved to WV, there may be land/deed records or other records about them.  And if he died in WV, his body may have been transported to VA for burial - so some permit for transporting his body may exist.  I would appreciate any help or leads about where to look for information/documentation.  Thank you in advance.  William Durvin. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
