The Mt. Pisgah Cemetery includes a Peter and Sarah Meadows WYANT. There is also an M. Kincaid WYANT grave. Now some are claiming MKW is the father of Peter. I doubt that very seriously. I strongly suspect him of being a sibling, instead. Are there any photos of these stones? Does anyone know of these WYANTs? Any idea what the M. stands for in M. Kincaid? Thanks, Vince Summers

There is an article about Peter & Sarah & their 9 children in the History of Summers County West Va 1984. It does not speak of Peters parents only that German Protestant Wyants came first to Penns and then to Rockingham Co, Va with Peter later moving to Powley's Creek and marrying. Doesn't answer your questions and I only see one M and that was a son Matthew Alexander. The Summers cemetery book does list Peter May 31, 1796/ Oct 28, 1886 and Sally (a nickname for Sarah) d. Jan 22 1881 age 76y, 6 mo, 9 d, w/o Peter Wyant. Matthew A is there also and died at age 22y, 4 mo, 11d on Aug12, 1873. I do not see your M Kincaid Wyant listed in the cemetery? For what it may be worth Peter's is the only birth date listed in 1700's. James Miller (History of Summers County WV 1908) mentions "The father of Peter Wyant, the settler, was a native of Germany, and settled in the Valley of Virginia, in Rockingham County; was seven years in the American Army during the Revolutionary War, and fought for the independence of this country." --but did not name him. I have Peter Wyant md Sarah Meadows; don't have his parents. Their son, Peter B Wyant, md Isabella Agnes Lowe, d/o Mathew Lowe and Elizabeth Clark. Elizabeth Clark's mother was a Kincaid. Peter Wyant has a will recorded in Summers Co. According the Miller's History of Summers Co. -- History of Summers Co., James Miller; 1907; p.634 Children listed p 584. "... the settler was a native of Germany, and settled in the Valley of Virginia, in Rockinghom county; was seven years in the Am. Revolutionary War, and fought for the independence of this country. I am a Lowe descentant, but not a Wyant descendant, so I haven't looked at this family in much detail. There are several Lowes buried in the Mt Pisgah Cemetery. Interesting that this subject has just came up. I am researching my Burr line out of Greenbrier and Nicholas Counties and found a marriage for Clora Burr to William Richard Boyd, Dec. 23, 1937 in Summers County, WV. William Richard Boyd was first married to Lena Wyant, d/o CS Wyant and Josie Meadows of Summers County. Thanks lots, Carol... Peter Wyant and Sarah Meadows -- his parents were Peter Wyant and Mary Burras. At this point it is believed he came from Germany to Forks Twp, Northampton Co, PA to Virginia.
