Good morning listers! I am hoping to find someone that can shed some light on the 3 marriages of Ballard P. Shumate. I have been studying the census records from 1870-1910. In 1870 he is wife Judith E. (Meador?) . Looks like Judith was born about 1844. In 1880 he is still with Judith. In 1900 he is with J.E. b. Sept 1865 - married 5 years (abt 1895) and has 2 step-children: B. Huff-Step daughter b. March 1886 & J.H. Huff- Stepson b. Sep 1887. Who is this J.E. and what happened to her? In 1910 he is with Alice Rebecca (Skaggs) that he married abt 1902 and has another daughter, Vivian V. aged 5 years. I have seen many entries online for Ballard showing he was married to both a Judith E. Meador and Lina Meador. Judith supposed died in 1892. Their daughter's death record (Emma Balena Farley) shows her mothers name as Lina Meadows. Sure would love to hear from someone to help straighten this out.
