I have always wondered how people traveled back in say 1830, some of my kinfolk left Lowell Virginia now Lowell West Virginia and traveled to Illinois, at that time their was no roads and their would have been many river's to cross, the Ohio and the Mississippi and the Illinois just to name a few of the big ones, I have no record of their journey left down threw time, and it has always been a wonderment as to the hardships they must have went threw making that journey, along with the men their was Women and children on the trip, I suppose they could have used the river's to make their way by coming down the Ohio to the Mississippi then going up to the Illinois River to land in Schuyler Co Illinois, if that would have been possible in that day and time, I guess I will never know for sure and will always wonder just how they did it, they had to be tough in those days to make that kind of journey, Richard Graham
