John was my Great Great Grandfather. He arrived in Summers County (Green Sulphur area) 1879/1880, from Floyd County, VA. Many Coxes migrated from place to place during that time frame but most seemed to have gone South to the Carolinas, TN or KY. Could it be he went to Summers because he had relatives there? RE: JOHN D. COX, Jr, b. 16 Jul 1822, Monroe Co., (W)V, d. 2 Mar 1900, Summers Co, WV (and his Descendants) - Likeness of first names of their descendants are so numerous and this further leads me to ask? Were they related. So, two questions to the list: (1) anyone know of any connection?? - (2) Any male descendants from John D. taken a DNA test? I have taken the 12 Marker DNA test and have not gotten any matches so far; however, this program for Genealogy Research is still on the ground floor and even though I have not matched anyone yet, I surely have eliminated several large Cox families from further consideration in my search for THOMAS COX.
