Subject Cox was Born Jul 16, 1822, Monroe, VA and died 1900-03-02 in Summers,,West Virginia,USA (according to information found on Ancestry.OWT). I descend from John S. Cox, born Mar 4, 1832, VA, and died Feb 11, 1919, in Summers County, WV Have any COX male descendants of John D. Cox taken a DNA test?? If not would you be interested in taking a DNA test. If cost in the only factor for taking a DNA test I would be most willing to provide assistance in paying for the test. I have taken the 32 marker DNA test and would like to hear from any Summers County COX male of the John D. descendants. I have not made any paper connections between the two families above, however the circumstances of my John removing to Summers County, WV causes me to believe there is good possibility of a family relationship between these two families. John Cox
John D. Cox was a son of John D. Cox, Sr. and Julia Dubois. John, Sr. was born in Virginia about 1790 but I have never been able to trace his ancestry any farther back and have never seen it documented by anyone else. The first documentation I have seen of him is his marriage bond in Monroe County, dated 22 May 1820. I have also never found or seen any documentation as to the exact date of birth of John D. Cox, Jr. I see the July 16, 1822 date all over the internet but as far as I know no documentation exists to support that exact date (does anyone have it?). Various census and other records place his birth in the 1821-1823 range. I am a direct descendant of John D. Cox, Jr. but not through the male lines. His granddaughter, Lilly Belle Victoria Cox (daughter of James Lewis Cox), was my grandmother.
