Not sure if this helps whoever is researching Cooks from Pipestem but in the 1996 SUMMERS COUNTY CEMETERY book they list 66 COOK and 4 COOKE. Four are buried in the ELLISON CEMETERY across from the old Pipestem Post Office on Rt 20. One, a Nancy Cook 1819/1896, is listed in the BUTTERMILK (John) NEELY CEMETERY just north outside of Pipestem State Park also on Rt 20. Neely relatives put up a new marker in the 1990's but I the best I can recall the other two or three stones are not legible. Seven others are listed as being in COOK CEMETERY [River Ridge near Pipestem]. The rest are scattered around the area in various cemeteries. {This would not list female Cooks who were probably buried under their married names as the book is in order by individual names not cemeteries}. As DEAN said they lived between Hinton & Athens some of the family records are probably in (Princeton) Mercer County as well. A family article THE COOK FAMILY starting with Michael Cook 1695 in Germany talks of numerous generations thru children born in the 1970's. A second article is on the family of Fred Clayton & June (Thomas) Cook. Fred was born in Pipestem in 1910. There is COOK genealogy to be found in 'CLAY FAMILY SETTLEMENT on the BLUESTONE RIVER' by William Sanders [index lists 68 Cook's]. Sanders is a local writer with a series of books about the area and its people. His books are generally available thru his law office in Princeton or on the shelf at the giftshop/bookstore near the tram at Pipestem State Park. I remember he name "George Cook" from an earlier msg. {deleted it, sorry}. On Page 126, "George Cook b 1847 m. 12/26/1866, Sarah J. Cook, daughter of John & Rhoda Cook." A family article on THOMAS BOYD COOK 1859/1914 in Mercer County History-1987.
