    1. Re: [WVSUMMER] M. Kincaid WYANT
    2. Vernon
    3. There is an article about Peter & Sarah & their 9 children in the History of Summers County West Va 1984. It does not speak of Peters parents only that German Protestant Wyants came first to Penns and then to Rockingham Co, Va with Peter later moving to Powley's Creek and marrying. Doesn't answer your questions and I only see one M and that was a son Matthew Alexander. The Summers cemetery book does list Peter May 31, 1796/ Oct 28, 1886 and Sally (a nickname for Sarah) d. Jan 22 1881 age 76y, 6 mo, 9 d, w/o Peter Wyant. Matthew A is there also and died at age 22y, 4 mo, 11d on Aug12, 1873. I do not see your M Kincaid Wyant listed in the cemetery? For what it may be worth Peter's is the only birth date listed in 1700's. James Miller (History of Summers County WV 1908) mentions "The father of Peter Wyant, the settler, was a native of Germany, and settled in the Valley of Virginia, in Rockingham County; was seven years in the American Army during the Revolutionary War, and fought for the independence of this country." --but did not name him. 3. The Mt. Pisgah Cemetery includes a Peter and Sarah Meadows WYANT. There is also an M. Kincaid WYANT grave. Now some are claiming MKW is the father of Peter. I doubt that very seriously. I strongly suspect him of being a sibling, instead. Are there any photos of these stones? Does anyone know of these WYANTs? Any idea what the M. stands for in M. Kincaid? Thanks, Vince Summers

A lot were unknowns. Let me know who and I will take a look and see if I can find them. Plus it there were relative were contact you might be able to find a relative that was contated and a possible relative. Let me know and I will look and see. 3. That James was the son of James.  His father was born in North Carolina and he meet his mother in Virginia where they married and evenually came to West Virginia where they had most of their kids.  I will have to check mine records because i was thinking she had most in Virginia.  Mine history had him going back to North Carolina when Lucy died.  But he did come back and visited his children and they apparently had a bunch. Moten, age 42.  John W. Moten wife  is India Moten.  On the actual census, age for James W. Moten age is  84.  He has an M2 in marriage field - not sure what the 2 means.  There is no wife listed.  1910 Census was taken on 20 April 1910 - so Lucy must have died before  that date. On the 1900 census John W. I have had three female ancestors marry a second time.  When they died  they were buried under first husbands name.  Suggestion: 1.  Look for any Lucy who may have died in 1909 - 1910 in Summers  County, WV.  2.  Check Summer County, WV for marriage between James W. 3. I have only one wife - Lucy that was married to him. I have not had any other one. They had a bunch of children. After she died I think around 1910 he when back to North Carolina or Virginia. Than I have another records that shows him coming back to visit the kids they had that was grown and had his grandchildren. I do not know when he died - that is the last record that I have of him. The motens came from him and her. He is mine ancestor and that is as far back as I have gone so far. That is the only one that I know of. Another of the moten clan did some research and Lucy was the only one that he found as well. I will be up sometime this fall and will be doing some research, but most of mine is from the Census records and Ancestry.com. 3. Thank Cindy. Maybe she is in a unmarked grave which mean that a marker is not there. When I am in Hinton this fall I will check at the Courthouse to see. It a little hard when you only know that she died there to track her down. Here children lived in and around Hinton, but her husband when back to Virginia or North Carolina. I think North Carolina since that was where he was born and raised. Not sure when he actually came to Virginia and they meet and married and for some reason when to West Virginia. Again thanks for looking Sandy Moten -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of cindy g Sent: Tuesday, July 07, 2009 2:03 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [WVSUMMER] Fw: Cemetery Book Sorry Sandy, Lucy is not in the cemetery book. 3. Good evening everyone. Just wanted to let you know that my parents, my son and myself drove over to Hinton yesterday and searched all over Restwood for Uncle Hugh's grave. We all got soaked to the bone and I am sorry to say that we were not able to locate a marker. I took the number from the sign at the entrance and this afternoon called and spoke with Carlos. Carlos searched the cemetery records and found that yes, Hugh and Maggie are buried there, but in unmarked graves. Thank you everyone for all of your help. Anita McClung Fayette County, WV
