You could be talking about the Riverview Cemetery. It is the Riverview Presbyterian Church Cemetery. -----Original Message----- From: Anita McClung <[email protected]> To: wvsummers <[email protected]> Sent: Sat, Sep 24, 2011 7:43 am Subject: [WVSUMMER] cemetery at Lowell We were recently in Summers County looking for a cemetery and in our search, we ame across an old church which appearred to no longer be in use and at the hurch there was a graveyard. How about June 17, 1926 to Stella Mae Lester, daughter of General Wirt Lester, and in 1984 were living in Hinton so I would think married in Summers Co. There are 14 MADDY family articles in the 1984 History of Summers Co including the one he submitted himself. Thank you Anita, Looks like there is a WV connection to John Washington Durvin. I wonder if he travelled from VA to attend the weddings or if he was living in WV at the time? I believe that William Lee Durvin is the son of William A. J. Durvin and Mary Lewis Gunnell. William A. J. Durvin was the brother of John Washington Durvin. Yes there is a strong connection with the railroad and the Durvin family; my father, grandfather, and great grandfather all worked for the railroad, as did many others in the Durvin family, including William A. J. Durvin. I have no evidence that John Washington Durvin worked for the railroad - in the censuses he is listed as either a carpenter or a farmer, and in his enlistment in the Confederate Army he says he is a mechanic. I really appreciate the information - perhaps we are getting closer to finding out what happened to John Washington Durvin? I contacted the Summers Co. WV clerk of the court and they had no death certificate for John W. Durvin in 1893. They may have searched for the wrong time period (?) or looked for the wrong name - his wife used the surname 'Dervin" when she applied for the pension (rather than Durvin). Since they may have moved to WV, there may be land/deed records or other records about them. And if he died in WV, his body may have been transported to VA for burial - so some permit for transporting his body may exist. I did some looking at death records (on line) for John Durvin and had no luck. However, I did locate the death of a Durvin baby girl born and died Apr. 17, 1896 at Hinton, Summers County. Parents names were not given but the birth/death was reported by April Johnston. She may or may not have been a neighbor. I will go back and check the records for any possible Durvin marriages but this was the only death I was able to locate. To all users. Take note. On one of the boards, or so it appears, [email protected] ......... , posts a blue link only, with no message included. DO NOT, EVER, click on this link !! It has NOTHING to do with family history, or [email protected] , or anything useful. It IS however, a computer virus/bug piggybacking on [email protected] .... 's e-mail name/address. What it DOES do is attack the registry of your computer and lock out access to ANYTHING in your computer except IT, which, makes you think you MUST buy their software download to free up your machine, because you can't even exit out of their popup. Guess what ? Give them your credit card number and you get NO download. They don't have one, but they sure got your credit card number, which they will use freely. So you're stuck with a virus locked up computer, and a hefty charge to your card, and there's nothing you can do about it, "after the fact". Trick is, don't open it in the first place. I DID open it, so I know first hand what it does. Fortunately, I have "Malwarebytes" software loaded. With that, I was able to isolate, then eliminate the virus/bug. The software is expensive. I got it because I opened a registry virus once that I could NOT get out of that caused me a trip the the computer shop. So, good people, beware. Jay R. Smith, Toledo, OHIO

I'm a satelite user of this board from Toledo, OH. I DID open a link. BIG MISTAKE !! There is a virus piggybacking on it, that once you open it, you cannot exit out of it without having special software (which, thank God, I have). The virus makes you sign on for THEIR SOFTWARE to free up your computer, which it will NOT do. It will just keep milking your credit card account however !! DON'T OPEN ANY OF THE LINKS !!!!!!!! Announcing A new book, ALL HER CHILDREN, covering the Cawley, Cauley, Caulley, Colley & Thornhill descendants of Sally Finley (ca1766-1830+) & Caniel Corley (1747-1807) and their 6 chileern: Allen Finley Caulley (1786-1869), Polly Finley Corley -Thornhill (1790-1860), James Finley Cauley (1793-1876), Berry Finley Cauley (1795-1880), John Finley Cawley (1797-1876) and Jeremiah Finley Cawley (1799-1866). All born in Bedford Co., VA; many descendants having moved to West Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri and Kansas. The book will be about 1100 pages in a loose-leaf binder, to make copying pages easier. There will be a companion data-DVD with over 2000 primary source documents such as census pages, birth records, marriage records, death records, wills, estate papers, deeds, land patents, military records (Revolutionary war, Mexican War and Civil War), WWI & WWII draft cards, Photos, Obituaries, DNA Y-Chromosome test results and newspaper articles. There will also be a descendants' chart showing each of the over 7000 names and how they descend from Sally Finley & Caniel Corley (They never married). Ed Griffith and I, Tom Caulley, have spent the last 3 months consolidating what we already had, researching new branches, finding primary source documents and typing this book. This will be the most complete book on this branch of the Corley family that has ever been printed. The book is 95% complete at this date with 1086 pages ready to print. I just need to acquire and add 4 documents and about 100 names before creating the index "The old Fashioned Way"--by hand. The book will be sold "at cost" with the final cost not exceeding the cost of printing plus cost of the binder , DVD, printer ink and shipping. The final cost will be known sometime in Late February or early March (allowing me time to create an index).
