    3. Cin - better respond before you think I died from a "genealogy high". Thanks for your help - yes, I have problems reading the different styles of handwriting and then as now people wrote real good until they came to a word or name they are unable to spell and at that time it seems handwriting gets much worse. Anyhow, I took the cemetery name off the Death Cert cover sheet - have since corrected it to FRANTZ. I will put it on my Summertime list to do if I get time - that is much farther than I normally go on the tree but was enjoying it so much just couldn't quit !!!!!! on the DUNCAN line - you must have some in your files - I see where a John Walker Duncan md. Virginia E. Bowles; dau of Alexander Bowles and Louisa Jane Adkins. Anyhow, I met my goal(s); made contact with Carol Benjamin in Maryland who is doing some research on DUNCAN; her line is John Hicks and Love Kaylor - and several messages have been sent to the list so all and all, it's been a good trip. We talk later jr ?? > John, > The death cert for Norban shows burial at the Frantz cemetery. The Frantz > cemetery is in the Meadow Bluff district of Greenbrier Co. 3. Hi; Lawn, WV is one of those places that you almost can't get to from here. Best way I know how to describe it is; Route 20, about half way between Hinton and Rainelle, there is a settlement called Elton, which is where I grew up. At Elton, Route 3 branches off Rte 20 and goes east. Take rte 3 (@1 mile, you'll go by where I lived) up to the top of the mountain where the road levels out, and that's Lawn, WV. Continue on and you come to Grassy Meadows, the Dawson, where rte 3 ends. Years back, Lawn was a settlement of perhaps a dozen or so farms/families (as was Elton), and it had a 1 room church, and old country store. You could buy gas at Elton, but not at Lawn. Nowadays, with the Interstate, and no work, both places are virtual ghost towns, sad to say. I had the distinct honor of starting grade school, in 1947, in a Norman Rockwell type old one room school house called Rock Island, where grades 1 thru 8 were taught, spread over a group of maybe 25 kids. Lord, them were the days !! Had so much fun growing up. Everyone was dirt poor, but we didn't know it, so it didn't matter, cause we had FAMILY. I gotta get off this nostalgia highway now, or I'll never get anything else done. Glad to make your aquaintance. 3. Jay - did you know the Rock Island school was purchased privately and moved about one mile from it's original location and now sits on Rt 3?? Will send you a picture of the school at it's original location and one of where it now sits--I had at least one COX Cousin attend school there in 1937 - My parents lived in Elton in 1937 when they were first married - memory tells me they lived above the store in Elton. Last Summer I got off I-64 at the Dawson exit - I had planned to go to Springdale but wound up coming into Elton on Rt 3. Might have went thru Lawn but don't recall............. Every summer I travel by Toledo on I-80 on my way East..........sometimes even come back that way.......... Nostalgia is good for the mind; a little of that and one will be entering new stuff in the family files !!! Thanks for the obit - Back in February last year I got that obit off the Summers site - were you the one that posted it? - at that time I thought but was not sure that he was the father of my Thomas. Having researched the census on Ancestry and West Virginia Vital Research Records the past three days I finally made the connection - also, by death records I associated Norban as being married to Elizabeth Ann Nedrick - is this incorrect? This is a much better tower, drive, speed and other extras. Doesn't have a floppy, so that will be the next to see if I can put one in. But the CD is a CD/R which is something I needed. 3. One of the pictures in the Graham house is that of a granddaughter, Nancy Stodghill, b1808, who married Henry Pence. Nancy was a daughter of Joel and Elizabeth Graham Stodghill. Elizabeth, daughter of James and Florence Graham, was captured by Indians when she was a young girl and returned to family years later. I don't recall the identity of the other pictures, but as Richard noted, they are much later than Col. Graham's generation. I don't have copies of these pictures, but do have a nice color photo of the house if interested. Also, the DAR has identified Col. Graham as as Patriot, both for military and civil service. His military rank was Captain, but his unit is not listed on-line. It is possible to order those records from the DAR though. The DAR web site is dar.org. Civil service could be for supplies to the Army and you might check "Virginia Publick Claims" for that. There are three volumes and #3 has an index for all. Most genealogy libraries have these books. I am not a Graham descendant, but several of my lines married into that family. Bonnie

> > Bonnie > > > ============================== > Search the US Census Collection. 3. I am curious as to who your husband is. I grew up in Dunns and know quite a few of the Okes family.
