I have learned James Harrison Merchant is not the father of my William Henry Merchant. William's father is George Washington Merchant. I am still trying to learn the exact relationship between the James Merchant of Ritchie County and my ancestor William Henry Merchant. They both have ties to Middleway, Jefferson County, Virginia and Ritchie County, West Virginia. I suspect they are uncle and nephew or maybe cousins. Thanks for the help.
