He was born in Pennsboro, a son of the late Willam and Katie MILLER GATRELL. He retired from the B&O Railroad as a tunnel mechanic with 38 years of service and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pennsboro. Surviving are two daughters, Patsy DELO of Marietta, OH, and Julia Fay McPEEK of Parkersburg; a son, Ernest W. "Billy" GATRELL of Williamstown (Boaz Community), WV; a brother, Clarence "Buzzy" GATRELL of Fairmont, WV; a sister, Genevieve TAYLOR of Parkersburg; six grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his wife, Prudence Janette WOODDELL GATRELL, a brother, Earl GATRELL, and a sister, Lila CASTO. Services were held at McCullogh-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, with the Rev. Kermit Poling officiating. Burial followed in E.U.B. Cemetery, Pennsboro. (submitter not related)
