She was born in Cairo, WV, a daughter of the late Floyd and Blanche NULL SMITH. She was employed at Lee Drug Store, Petrolia, for seven years, Karns City High School cafeteria for six years and retired as a library clerk at Bruin and Chicora Elemementaries after 10 years of service. She was a member of Chicora Chapter 354, Order of the Eastern Star, West Sunbury Rebekah Lodge 19, president of Fairview Township Retirees and judge of elections in Fairview Township, Butler County, PA. She was active with the Chicora American Red Cross Blood Drive, an avid seamstress, cook, and volunteer. She was a member of Butler County Association of School Retirees, Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary, St. Peter's Reformed Church of Fairview, Ladies Aid and Pastor Pulpit Committee. She was a Sunday School teacher, junior youth group leader, Sunday School superintendent and on the Vacation Bible School Staff. Surviving are a son, Dennis R. BARGER of Petrolia; two brothers, Roy SMITH of Coral Springs, FL, and Ralph SMITH of Cairo; a sister, Marjorie SWISHER of Parkersburg, WV; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Byron R. BARGER, in 1971, and a sister. Services were held at St. Peter's Reformed Church of Fairview with the Rev. L. Charles Stocker officiating. Burial followed in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia. Richard D. Hills Funeral Home, Petrolia, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials are preferred to St. Peter's Reformed Church, RR 1, Petrolia, PA 16050. (submitter not related)
