He was born in Ritchie County, WV, a son of the late James and Effie RICHARDS DeVAUGHN. He was a retired employee of the WV Department of Highways in Ritchie County and a Protestant by faith. Surviving are his wife, Pearl GILLIS DeVAUGHN; five sons, John DeVAUGHN of Michigan, Harry DeVAUGHN, Jr., Jerry DeVAUGHN, Lloyd DeVAUGHN and Donnie DeVAUGHN, all of Cairo; two daughters, Julia SHIRLEY of Cairo and Betty DUNBAR of Rockport, WV; three brothers, Henry DeVAUGHN of Pullman, WV, William DeVAUGHN of Troy, WV, and James DeVaughn of Weirton, WV; three sisters, Edith ELDRIDGE and Bessie DeVAUGHN, both of Akron, OH, and Grace MIDCAP of New Cumberland, WV; and a grandson. Preceding him in death were a son, Jimmy DeVAUGHN; two brothers, Emery and Carl DeVAUGHN; and a sister, Mable GRIFFITH. Services were held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Cairo, with the Rev. Robert Porter officiating. Burial followed in Cairo, I.O.O.F. Cemetery. (submitter not related)
