CHILDERS, 86, of Clay St., Elizabeth, WV, died Wednesday, 4 September 1991, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, WV, following a brief illness. He was born in Ritchie County, WV, a son of the late Claude and Zora BAKER CHILDERS. He was employed at the Weston State Hospital for several years and was a long time resident of Cox's Mills community (Gilmer County), WV. He was a member of the Cox's Mills United Methodist Church and attended the Elizabeth United Methodist Church after moving to Elizabeth, WV, in 1975. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Velma WARE CHILDERS; a son and daugther-in-law, Duwayne and Barbara SIGLER CHILDERS of Elizabeth; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Roy BUCHANAN of Elizabeth; two brothers, Dennis CHILDERS of Sharpes, FL, and Homer Luthrell CHILDERS of Mount Vernon, OH; two sisters, Violet WELLS, of Massilion, OH, and Wilma MILLS, of Pheonix, AZ; and two granddaughters, Shyanne PALMER of Pennsylvania and Valerie CHILDERS of Nashville, TN. Preceding him in death were a son, Lynden CHILDERS, and a brother, Gerald CHILDERS. Services were held at the Cox's Mills United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Jeff Winter and Walter C. Mullins officiating. Burial was in the Horn Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Cox's Mills. Busch Furnural Home, Elizabeth, was in charge of arrangements. (submitter not related)

She was a member of North Parkersburg Baptist Church, had worked at Kardex and was a member of the Eastern Star in Parkersburg. She is survived by her husband, Jacob "Jim" LaVALLEE; two sons, Stephen MOORE of Stockport, OH, and Dennis MOORE of Parkersburg; three daughters, Jackie LYNCH and Roberta NELSON, both of Parkersburg, and Shelly COMPTON of Mineral Wells, WV; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph "Bud" SMITH of Cairo, WV, and Roy SMITH of Bradenton, FL; two sisters, Mary Virginia BARGER of Petroia, PA., and Marjorie SWISHER of Parkersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. David Easter officiating. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Cairo. (submitter not related)

1880 Census there is a Joshua and Lucinda Barlow in Grant District in Ritchie, WV. They have come from Ohio. Children are W. J., Parley A, Jno J.. In 1900 they are in the same District, and a son John E. is living with them. Joshua was born in August 1829 and Lucinda was born in April 1833. What I want to know is there anyone down there who knows the maiden name of this Lucinda? Thanks Jerilyn
