Maxwell's "History of Randolph County," p. 355, says John Crouch married Judy Westfall. Martin Yokum, a descendant of Judy, says she married Andrew Crouch. A manuscript in the Historical Society/ARFHS library in Beverly says that John CROUCH married Mary NELSON in 1791. It gives this detail: "Mary may have been a daughter of Charles Nelson, who came to the valley among the first settlers. A John Nelson was killed by the Indians in 1780, a short distance below the mouth of Big Run about 3 miles from Valley Head. Tradition says this John was Mary's brother."
