Martin Yokum, a descendant of Judy, says she married Andrew Crouch. >> Hi Mary Ann, This little bit from my notes: John Crouch Sr married Mary ___. Probably Mary Neilson. Their children: 1 John Crouch jr married Judy Westfall 2 Jacob Crouch married Jane Smith 1803 3 Andrew Crouch married Elizabeth Hutton 1810 4 Elizabeth Crouch married Samuel Wamsley 1806 >> "Mary may have been a daughter of Charles Nelson, who came to the valley among the first settlers. A John Nelson was killed by the Indians in 1780, a short distance below the mouth of Big Run about 3 miles from Valley Head. Tradition says this John was Mary's brother." ("William Currence -- the Pioneer, 1727-1780," by Peter W. Crickard, p. 36)<< I believe this John Nelson was the father of my Sarah Bringham. I have more on this story if you are interested. An indenture dated July27, 1801 between Jacob Nelson for himself and also by Virtue of a Letter of Attorney to him duly executed by John Crouch and Sarah his wife (Heirs at Law of the Estate of Charles Nelson late of the said county of Randolph who died intestate) of Bourbon Co KY dated Dec 15, 1795 recorded in the court of Bourbon Co KY sold to Jonathan Hutton a tract of land being part of the 1000 acres originally granted by Patent from Commonwelath of VA to James ___, Joseph Crouch, Andrew Crouch and Charles Fornelson in Tygarts Valley, Randolph Co VA. The tract contained 269 1/2 acres. The LDS records also read that Mary Nelson wife of Major John Crouch died Nov 19, 1834 at Huttonsville, Randolph Co VA. This is probably John Crouch Sr. Leoneita
