William Bonner b. Ireland & Solomon Bonner d. Ohio-both married >to Elizabeth Lancisco? Typing error or did they really marry someone of >the same name? That is one of the things I wanted to clear up too. I figured if he did indeed marry another Elizabeth Lancisco, it was a cousin, which was not unheard of. I only have that Elizabeth was Solomon Bonner's wife and the mother of his children, then he married Magdalena Wise. If anyone has anything different, I would definitely like to hear from you. I have also found that there was another son of William and Elizabeth Lancisco Bonner named Samuel who was younger than William, Jr. Anyone have information on him? There is a possibility raised that he is the father of the Rebecca Bonner who married Peter Fansler. >2. Samuel H. Bonner-he is listed in the 1870 census of Tucker County. >Pg. 230 family number 56. He is living with Frank(Frederick) E. >Jones. Amanda (Bonner)Jones, Sarah Bonner, Elizabeth Bonner, and George >Jones. I have the 1870 index to WV census on C.D. It doesn't even have Samuel >listed and so I though he had died also. Then one day I was checking the >county page by page and there was Samuel Bonner. Well, it seems Broderbund >has him listed as Samuel Banner! I will also have to recheck the census. My notes say that he is in 1850 Randolph #454, 1860 Tucker #245, 1870 Randolph #24 and 1880 Randolph #24. Maybe that is where the rest of the family was. I also found that the Borrers of WV are in the indexes as Bower. When you look at it on the page, you can see how the transcriber made the mistake. The way the "rr" was written it definately looked like "w" if you didn't know what you were looking for. >3. Also there is no Solomon Bonner listed in the Broderbund index, >but there he is on page 231 Tucker County, family number 70! Which just goes to show, look at the census. The index is wonderful when it is correct and a pain when it isn't. Thank you for that bit of info. I have added it to my info and will also keep it in mind the next time I have to go back to that census. I have spent many, many hours in front of a reader. If you have done that, you know that you can go cross-eyed after an hour or two. You also get very bored if you aren't finding anything. Some of the census I haven't gone back to yet. I only started collecting cousins in the last 6 years or so. Before that, I was fixed only on my line. >4. I have James William Bonner born 1853, son Of Solomon Bonner and >Jane Bright. He married a Phoebe Catherine White, daughter of Allen White >and Lydia Layton. So, it seems Christopher named his son, James, for his >cousin? There seems to be a lot of that. They are either named for cousins, or at least for prominent men/women in the community. I still want to know who Okey is. >5. Amanda Bonner's marriage to Frederick Jones, December 3, 1868 >What dates do you have for her marriage to the Wade & White? Also, if Elizabeth and Sarah Wade belong to Amanda, then, why aren't they >listed in the 1870 census with her? There are a Sarah (age 11 or 18) and Elizabeth >Bonner (3 or 5) listed. If they are Amanda's children then that would have made >Amanda 10 when she had Sarah (if at age 11). I am not trying to throw a clob in the >wheel of Bonner genealogy, I only want to be as accurate as possible. I would >appreciate any info you have as far as documentation. [email protected] I have no dates for the White and Wade marriages. There could be several reasons that the children are not with Amanda in 1870. I have found that one of the other girls, a Carr, must have had her child taken away from her. There are several illegitimate children in the Carr family that get bounced around a lot in the census and you have to watch what they are called. They change their names as often as they do abodes. Elizabeth would possibly be the only child you could locate in the census as I have her born in 1868. Sarah is listed in my information as 1870. That may mean that Amanda was pregnant at the time of the census. The Sarah and Elizabeth may also be young cousins that are living with the family too. You are not putting a club in the wheel. I posted this information purposely so I could get mine as accurate as possible. Again, with all the illegitimacy that I have run across, I did not have any of the details that the WV folks who have lived it had. The first time I put the Bonners together, I didn't know about the Parson/Yokum connections. I thought all those girls belonged to William and Jemima. The first time I got a hold of a close WV source, I was straightened out very quickly. Your AOL callsign bounces my messages back to me.
