Hello Ginny, Pleased to meet you! > Jay , your posting on the WVRandol mailing list intrigued me. Good, hope we can help each other out. > In passing, you mentioned John and Esther(Hornbeck) TRUBY. All things > considered, the > Westfall, Truby combo is usually connected to STALNAKER. Oh no! I have not linked to the ever present Stalnakers yet but knew it was coming soon. No offense, I just see their names through out the South branck region with Kuykendall and others. > Can you tell me a little more about your John and Esther Truby- I had thought > my John Truby's > wife was Westfall- but I do recognize there could be more than one of the > little critters running around :-) Thanks for your time, Ginny Ok, here is what I have: Christopher(l) Truby or Drube, b. ca1700/01 came to America on the Britanica on 21 Sep 1731. But I do not have from where. I do not have to date of their marriage or her maiden name but he married a lady named Mary (Maria) Catherine and had at least two children. He died 6 Aug 1753. Their children were Christopher Truby (1736-1802) and John Truby(1740-1800). Christopher married SybillaBowman. I have no further information on them. John however married Esther Westfall, daughter of Colonel Jacob Westfall I (of Fort Westfall) and Judith (Judlike) Hornbeck. They had at least threee children: Elizabeth (Eleanor) that married JAcob Stalnaker and had seven children. I have no dates for these folks. Jacob being the son of Captain Samuel Stalnaker. I would share these notes with you about Jacob Stalnaker: "Jacob, another son, came to Tygarts Valley with his sons in 1772. They prempted land in the pioneer way of "tomahawk right." Later these lands were surveyed and grants were signed by Benjamin Harrison, Governor of Virginia. Jacob Stalnaker, Sr. , built his home on the hill in Beverly, later owned by his great grandson, Daniel Baker, and still known as the Baker home. The house was built of logs taken from the old Westfall fort on the river-bank, but the building has been destroyed and not even a picture remains. Among those who pushed their way across the Alleghaney mountains in 1772 to the district of West Augusta was Jacob Stalnaker. These settlers located in the beautiful, rich, level Tygarts Valley, comprising 25 or 30 miles along that river." I have even more info for his father. Anyway, the next child was Rebecca Truby (1752-1858) born in MD. I am not sure where I got her place of birth. She was married to John Cutright Sr. 2 Jan 1788 in Harrison Co, VA. Anne Truby married James Westfall Sr. Esther's Brother. They were maried Dec 29, 1786. I wish I had more. Maybe we can help each other out or others off the list will join us on this Journey.
