    3. Hello Don,   >   I believe we may have communicated in the past about the Cutright and > related families. Yes we have inded talked a bit before.  Glad to here from you again. >   However, I am most interested in the same names you have listed and would > add my comments to your posting copied below. Here is what I have on Henrick Kortright, b. 1717 in Harlem, NY baptised 22 sep that year. Married Elizabeth Hornbeck, 28 Dec1739, Rochester, NY.  Came to Hampshire County after that and died in Moorefield, WV.  I did not have a date for his death.  You dates make since.  I do not believe he came over as soon as his sons Benhamin and John.  Hendrick's parents were Pieter Hendricksen Kortright and Marytjen "Mary" Van Garden.  Do you know where Pieter was from and anything at all about the Van Garden Family? >  I know that When Sam Pringle came oout > > of the woods and back to that community on the South Branch he talked > > John Cutright and others to come with him.  He also came back a married > > man, married to Charity Cutight. > >    Some notes I have about this family lead me two directions.  I have > > had John Sr. Cutright > > born 1754, Fairfax VA (?) Interesting.  I knew about the plot in the Hampton Cemetary.  I have not visited it yet, but will try to soon before it gets too cold.  I am passing through there about Thanksgiving time.  Who else is barried there?  His brother Benjamin?  His wife Rebecca Truby?  Samuel Pringle? I wonder how we can find out about this Fairfax Couthouse.  Is it like a Manor?  Land that is set aside by the Lord to lease to tenant for his own income? > >   Now, some information I have seen states that John's parents were > > Henry and Elizabeth, but I have also seen that Benjamin and Mary > > Catherine (wolfe) Cutright are his parents.  I wish some one could clear > > this up.  Is Ben his Brother or father. > >    Ben was a brother to John Sr. and Charity.   I believe there were also > brothers Abraham and Henry Jr. There are others who do not think so. By the > way, Ben and Mary Catherine had a son named John. He married Deborah > Osborne and the marriage is on record in the Randolph Co Courthouse in > Elkins, WV. Great, I am going to take that and believe that.  I have felt more comfortable with Ben as his Brother, because it seems in the annals that they did most everything together.  Here are the other siblings that I have for John, Benjamin and Charity: Abraham, Peter, Henry H. who married Sarah Hall.  This must be the Henry Jr. you mentioned. I wonder if the H stands for Hendricksen, (Son of Hendrick). I have the children for Bejamin Cutright and Mary Catherine Woolfe: Mary Ann, who married John Pringle, her cousin, son of Samuel Pringle and Charity Cutright. Andrew, who also married his cousin Elizabeth Pringle. Isaac, did not marry as far as I know. Susannah, who also did not marry as far as I know. Abraham Sr. also looks like  bachelor and John, you mentioned above. >  I know that Ben has been stated > > to be one of the early settlers of Beverly, WV with Nicholas Wolfe (Mary > > Christina's Father).  If that is the case, then why would John move back > > to the south branch?  How did Ben get to the Tygert Valley if Henry > > stayed pretty much on the South Branch?  I was also under that > > inclination that John and Ben (as brothers) traveled together with Sam > > Pringle to Buckhannon.  Ben i have as born 1740 in Fairfax? and dying > > 1790 in Upshur.  Please help me with this family, Henry and his children > > and the families they may have married into, ie. No, I am sure they did not.  If indeed Hendrick passed away before they left, they would have not reason to.  I do not know when their Mother passed away exactly, but I do know she died in Moorefield as well.  I would like to find out where this couple are burried.  I have seen a Cornelius Cutright listed with Hendrick and John in Hardy Co.  do you know who this might be.  In the 1787 tax records, John is listed in both Randolf co. and Hampshire Co. at the same time.  Bejamin is only listed in Randolf co., and Hendrick is not listed as he had already passed on, Rebecca Tuby's Father John and her uncle Christopher were both listed. > >    Also, I thought at one time that there was a Cutright mailing list. > > Is it still out there? >   You can contact Heather Bowers at  [email protected]    for information > about the Cutright e-mail list.
