    3. As has already been briefly mentioned, families should not overlook their local Boy Scouts for help with restoring and maintaining family cemeteries. If you don't know of a Scout or troop that can help you, contact the BSA Council office nearest to where the cemetery is located and ask the District Executive covering the cemetery's area to help you find one. You can find the correct council at http://www.scouting.org/councils/index.html Boy Scouts are required to do a specified number of service hours as they move up through each of their ranks. To earn the highest rank of Eagle Scout, an individual Scout must plan and lead others in a major service leadership project, including recognition of the needs, raising resources, and leadership of the manpower. Cemetery restoration is ideal for an Eagle project. Routine cemetery maintenance is certainly ideal service work in general for a troop. Of course if you have something to donate to a troop in return for their services, they are also always in need of funds for equipment, camping, etc.
