    3. As has already been briefly mentioned, families should not overlook their local Boy Scouts for help with restoring and maintaining family cemeteries. If you don't know of a Scout or troop that can help you, contact the BSA Council office nearest to where the cemetery is located and ask the District Executive covering the cemetery's area to help you find one. You can find the correct council at http://www.scouting.org/councils/index.html Boy Scouts are required to do a specified number of service hours as they move up through each of their ranks. To earn the highest rank of Eagle Scout, an individual Scout must plan and lead others in a major service leadership project, including recognition of the needs, raising resources, and leadership of the manpower. Cemetery restoration is ideal for an Eagle project. Routine cemetery maintenance is certainly ideal service work in general for a troop. Of course if you have something to donate to a troop in return for their services, they are also always in need of funds for equipment, camping, etc.

    3. Hi all, I am very pleased with all the response regarding Arnold Hill Cemetery. Cindy, that is a wonderful idea about the sign at the cemetery. I was also wondering if we could put up a flag when we get the money, or would that be appropriate ? And we should really have a fence around it. Eleanor, thanks so much for your offer. Bill Rice will do his best to clean and mow and I think all hands on offers to do work there should be co-ordinated with him as he is in Elkins. I knew about Alan Haught and really appreciate what he has done at the cemetery. Terri Lucas, good to hear from you. You may check with Gail Tacy in Huttonsville or Virgil Tacy to find out who is caring for Bell Kelly cemetery. Will email you Virgil's email address privately. Thanks to all, Jeanne Support the Arnold Hill Cemetery Association. Please send donations to William Rice, P.O. Box 303, Elkins, W.V., 26241. or to Jeanne Russell, 1002 Smith Ave., Lebanon, Pa., 17042. Thank you.

You might check on reunions of the different surnames buried there. In one year, we reclaimed two cemeteries, putting new fences and a gate up and cutting down over 20+ trees that had grown up. We then planted grass and wildflowers. I am happy to report that the owners of both were more than agreeable and cooperative. Bonnie Vance Miller

    3. As long as everyone is on the discussion of a trust fund for cemeteries. I was wondering if anyone has an idea on where or who has a trust fund set up for the Belle-Kelly Cemetery. My maternal grandparents, great grandparents, great-great grandparents are buried there along with other family. Brakes, a couple of Tacys, and others. I know that my grandparents used to put money into an account for the care of the cemetery. I would like to try to donate a little money to help with upkeep, since it is next to the Seventh Day Adventist Camp. thank you, Terri Hi, Jeanne, haven't talked to you in a while. 2. Once you turn to head towards the cemetary, it appears you are going on a private drive. You will pass a house on the left. On the right is the cemetary. I think it would be hard for a regular car to get up there and there is not much room for any parking on the grassy area. I'd pull up near the yellow house and then walk up. You should see the airport off to the right. Maybe if enough money is raised, a proper sign can be posted to mark the cemetary. Sounds like a good Boy Scout Project to me! Cindy

    3. Hello, Last summer I was in Elkins and tried to find the Arnold Hill Cemetery. I found the big cemetery by the airport, which has a lot of my relatives. I wanted to find Abraham Kittle and some earlier graves and hunted for the Arnold Hill Cemetery but couldn't find it. I remember driving up a hill, and then I ended up coming back down the hill, kind of a loop. Where is the cemetery located? Thanks, I may get back there this summer. 2. I live in Loudoun County Virginia. I'm a good 5-6 hours from Elkins. My grandmother Bohon is in a nursing home there. Most of my roots are in Randolph, Barbour, Upshur, Tucker and Preston. I was raised in Bridgeport. My mother's family lived on Stone Coal Road between Mill Creek and Adolph. I took some lovely pics from that ride last year. Her mother's family is buried in Jeresulum Cemetary in Mill Creek (Cutrights, Raders, etc.). My maternal grandfather (Williams, Tenney) is at Zirkle Cemetary. Zirkle is very well kept and Jeresulum is not in bad shape. There is alot of missing history in my family. My grandfather preached in those mountain churches...not sure which ones though. My mother is buried in Bridgeport Cemetary. I had a strong urge last summer to travel through Randolph County with my dad to get some family history. I tried to get my maternal grandmother to tag along, but she is not in good health. I went to the Beverly center in hopes of doing some research, but my young son doesn't do well in unfamiliar places so I left quickly. I then gave my aunt my Family Tree software installation disks and then had to reinstall everything...so I am missing my program to run my files. I hope to get it back next week. I can type, copy and paste..I just need the data! Let me know how I can help with that. I'll send in a donation, too. It may not be much right now but as my children fly the next, I can send in more. I do have some pictures of tombstones from Arnold Hill Cemetary. Is there a place they can be posted? Cindy

    2. Count both me and my father in. The Bohen's buried there are actually Bohons. My greatgrandfather Jefferson Davis (JD) and his wife Grace Piercy Bohon. I have pictures of the cemetary. I was up there in August. Elkins is my birthplace. I could not find Abraham Kittle's graveside for all the brush (he's on my moms side and married into someone on my dads side when he got remarried). The Bohon markers are in decent shape and they are pretty visable..no weeds around them. My father was so angry at the condition of the cemetary that he wanted to find out who to contact to get it cleaned up. Now we know where to go to help. My father is not physically able to clean up and I have a disabled child that prevents me from doing work--he didn't do well there in August when we visited. Anyway, besides cash donations, what else can we do? It's possible I could go help clean up if I can get my husband to take a weekend off to watch my son. Cindy

    3. Dear Cindy, I use Randolph County WV Marriages 1787-1923, but I had looked up the Ruth Ware one on my own. Order from Wes Cochran 2515 10th Ave. Parkersburg, WV 26101 Are you working on the Osborn family by any chance? I go back to Joseph Osborn and Rhoda Romine who first settled in Harrison Co. Jean
