Does anyone have any information on the sister of Thomas--Margaret Summerfield? 1794-about 1872. She married Abraham Wolford in 1820 but she already had two daughters, Mary and Mahala before that. Any idea who the other man was? Abraham and Margaret had children John, Elizabeth, Isaac, Jemima, and Fanny.

    1. Re: [WVRANDOL-L] Summerfield and Roys
    2. Yes, she is the daughter of Soloman Roy and Margaret Pennington. She married John Wesley Summerfield, although I have no marriage record for them. John was the son of Abraham Summerfield and Catherine Ann Hensley. Abraham was the son of Thomas Summerfield and Anna Raines; Thomas was the son of Joseph Summerfield and Winnie Nelson. John Wesley Summerfield and Mary Catherine Roy had 6 children, including my ggrandfather, Mordecai Preston Summerfield. If you need any further information, let me know. Bonnie

    3. Jean I got your letter and think this would be worthwhile if it is properly set up. I donated before to what was supposed to be a one time cleanup heavy expense with someone to mow every 3 weeks during mowing season. I go over a year and a half later, and it is all grown up again. I visited the cemetery a few times in my younger days (could not go now due to mobility limitations) and it was almost always grown up. It would be nice if you could get the Allegheny Regional History Society or other group to take over the project of perpetual maintenance once you have the funding. When things settle down and I get home and able, I will send a donation. My mother went in hospital January 24 and died March 8. I stayed with her the whole time. I am in Charleston now working on clearing out things from the house. I have to go home by April 8 to have cataract surgery and have been told for about six weeks to plan on having messed up vision. He is going to improve my vision so much that my current glasses prescription may even give me headaches but we have to wait to do the new glasses after surgery by about a month and it normally takes my glasses 2 weeks to come in. When I have the other eye done (probably next year) he will improve the vision in it also. My glasses have such a strong prescription and this will improve them by about half. I said I could live with that to at least have some vision without glasses - currently I cannot see things 5 feet from me without glasses. Good luck on your project. I see some very good web sites of cemetery associations. Bill Rice gave me an up dated list of burials at Arnold Hill which I hope to post soon. About 151 people. 3. Hi Cindy I'm on the road and only picking up email every few days. When was your ancestor born in County Sligo (approximate)? I have done a lot of research in County Kerry and have been there and saw with my two eyes the original Catholic record of my ancestors baptism in 1809. Maybe I can give you some ideas to try on Sligo. Irish research isn't as bad as it first seems once you learn a few things. Barbara

    3. Hi All, I'm new to the list (I finally figured out how to join), and I've seen the last few messages regarding Roy's. I think I've been in touch with some of you before over the last couple of years. I was born in Randolph County and my mother is a Roy. My family tree is online at Rootsweb and the link is: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:1653063 I am researching the Roy family (and others) in Randolph, Tucker and Pendleton Counties from the late 1700's to now. My tree starts with Joseph Roy (1) & Joley, then his son Joseph Roy (2) & Sarah Summerfield. I have 240 Roy's in the family tree so far online. If you click on the letter R you will get a list. I am sure there are probably mistakes though, the Roy lines get VERY confusing sometimes. Any corrections or additions will be cheerfully received! Will be happy to share my sources for any particular individual listed. [I am not a professional genealogist and my family tree is online for the benefit of my family and for fun. As is always the case, this should only be used as a guide in your own research and you should document your own information]. Anyway, wanted to introduce myself to the list and say hello.
