    2. Kevin- I also have Lydia Steel(e) and William Currence. My line follows: William CURRENCE m Lydia STEEL(E) Sarah "Sally" CURRENCE m Matthew WAMSLEY William Heater WAMSLEY m Prudence WILMOTH Lucinda WAMSLEY m William Madison WARE Samuel WARE m Sallie Brown HIDY Samuel Bruce WARE m Barbara Jean NELSON Sheryl Ruth WARE m Richard Allen TUCK I have only been doing genealogy since Sep 97, I have learned the importance of documentation and sources. I've started to search in PA for Lydia's family but have had no luck. I'm also on the STEELE list here at rootsweb but haven't had any luck. Regretfully this time of year I have very little time to do any research except to correspond on the lists. I'm more than happy to join in the search. Maybe someone can organize it and assign sections for each to research. I hope some valid information comes of this, but all of my looking has not come up with any parents. Sheryl Tuck

There are a LOT of us out here who have been trying to learn about Lydia Steele who married William Currence. Your help will be appreciated by all of us, I know! I have been told that Lydia's death is recorded in the TV Presbyterian Church as 29 Aug 1820, age 95. Does that correspond with what you have? 3. Sandra - I have quite a few differences in dates and places for your Currence family members. I had thought that William Currence died in an indian attack on 12 May 1781 from Bosworth's "History of Randolph County", p 334-9. I realize that Hu Maxwell indicates an earlier date. Do you have a source for your dates on William and the other family members? Additionally, you have Samuel Currence born 1753 in Virginia and shown as the oldest son. I have him as the 10th and youngest son, born 2 Nov 1772. We both show his wife as Elisabeth Bogard. I guess I shouldn't be concerned over these minor differences as it seems that all my sources seem to have different dates. One final question: Sarah Currence's husband, John Wamsley, is shown as the son of Judith Dorcas. I have not found a last name for her and thought Dorcas was her first name. My descent is from Lydia Currence and Benjamin Hornbeck. Thanks. Wayne

    2. Dear Friends and Relatives, I am signing off for six months until I can get my medical situation under control, not to mention the pile of genealogy correspondence that is way past due. I will still check my mail daily, so if I owe you anything please don't hesitate to remind me. My medical problems are not major, just three little minor ones that are refusing to cooperate and exist peacefully in my body. If they would get along, I'd be just fine. In the meantime, I want to wish all of you luck with your research, your family and your health. And if anyone wins the LOTTERY, remember I'm family :-) See Ya in Six Months! Vivian in Florida

    3. I am looking for Minnie Alodinor McCoy. Her maiden name may have been McAvoy instead of McCoy. She was born in either 1865 or 1869, in Braxton or Nicholas County, WV. She married Lewis M. Walker in 1885 in Nicholas County, WV. She had four children: Robert Ivan Walker, Coy L. Walker, Alden Oscar Walker (all born in Nicholas County) and Villeria/Valeria, who was born in Webster County. Minnie died on 2 June 1900 in Cowen, Webster County. She may have died giving birth to Villeria/Valeria. Villeria/Valeria's birth record lists her birth as 3 May 1900 but her death record (6 July 1900) lists her age as 34 days, which would make her birth date 2 June 1900. Is this a mess or what? Just when I think I have Minnie all sorted out, I find a record that contradicts my information! The date of her marriage and the names of her husband and children and her date and place of death are the only things that have remained unchallenged! Any help is greatly appreciated, Cathy

    3. Hello, I too am interested in the Lipscomb family. I know my Lipscombs must tie in with Ambrose Lipscomb somehow. I just haven't figured it out yet. My ggrandfather was a John (Jehu or Tehue) Lipscomb born abt. 1827 who married a Lucinda Davis. They resided in Preston county in 1880 as they were on the census there with their children : America, Hester Ann, Rachel, Melissa, Charles, and Spencer (he was also listed as Stanford). Their daughter Rachel born 1864 married John Wesley Loughry born 1861. These were my ggrandparents. Does anyone know how John Lipscomb ties in with Ambrose? His marriage to Lucinda Davis may have been a second marriage . Thanks for any help. Rebecca Lucas [email protected]
