    2. Jeff, Sorry about the messages bouncing back, I had to block juno.com as I have been getting porno from that domain. Eventually I will reopen it, when the porno mongers get enough of their mail bounced. Yes, I have spent a lot of time in front of readers. In fact, I am transcribing the Allegany County census for USgenweb. I am good at reading old handwriting, and enjoy it somewhat, it surely does cause a lot of eyestrain. I am descended from Solomon Bonner b. 1823 on my mother's side and Samuel Bonner b. 1814 on my father's side. Please let me know when you find the dates and marriages for the Amanda marriages to Wade and White. I will keep looking also. Deborah

That is one of the things I wanted to clear up too. I figured if he did indeed marry another Elizabeth Lancisco, it was a cousin, which was not unheard of. I only have that Elizabeth was Solomon Bonner's wife and the mother of his children, then he married Magdalena Wise. If anyone has anything different, I would definitely like to hear from you. I have also found that there was another son of William and Elizabeth Lancisco Bonner named Samuel who was younger than William, Jr. Anyone have information on him? There is a possibility raised that he is the father of the Rebecca Bonner who married Peter Fansler. >2. Samuel H. Bonner-he is listed in the 1870 census of Tucker County. >Pg. 230 family number 56. My notes say that he is in 1850 Randolph #454, 1860 Tucker #245, 1870 Randolph #24 and 1880 Randolph #24. Maybe that is where the rest of the family was. I also found that the Borrers of WV are in the indexes as Bower. When you look at it on the page, you can see how the transcriber made the mistake. The way the "rr" was written it definately looked like "w" if you didn't know what you were looking for. >3. Also there is no Solomon Bonner listed in the Broderbund index, >but there he is on page 231 Tucker County, family number 70! Which just goes to show, look at the census. The index is wonderful when it is correct and a pain when it isn't. Thank you for that bit of info. I have added it to my info and will also keep it in mind the next time I have to go back to that census. I have spent many, many hours in front of a reader. If you have done that, you know that you can go cross-eyed after an hour or two. You also get very bored if you aren't finding anything. Some of the census I haven't gone back to yet. I only started collecting cousins in the last 6 years or so. Before that, I was fixed only on my line. >4. I have James William Bonner born 1853, son Of Solomon Bonner and >Jane Bright. [email protected] I have no dates for the White and Wade marriages. There could be several reasons that the children are not with Amanda in 1870. I have found that one of the other girls, a Carr, must have had her child taken away from her. There are several illegitimate children in the Carr family that get bounced around a lot in the census and you have to watch what they are called. They change their names as often as they do abodes. Elizabeth would possibly be the only child you could locate in the census as I have her born in 1868. Sarah is listed in my information as 1870. That may mean that Amanda was pregnant at the time of the census. The Sarah and Elizabeth may also be young cousins that are living with the family too. You are not putting a club in the wheel. I posted this information purposely so I could get mine as accurate as possible. Again, with all the illegitimacy that I have run across, I did not have any of the details that the WV folks who have lived it had. The first time I put the Bonners together, I didn't know about the Parson/Yokum connections. I thought all those girls belonged to William and Jemima. The first time I got a hold of a close WV source, I was straightened out very quickly. Your AOL callsign bounces my messages back to me. 2. Jeff, I have some of the same lines as you do, just in a slightly different order. So, let me ask a few questions. 1. William Bonner b. Ireland & Solomon Bonner d. Ohio-both married to Elizabeth Lancisco? Typing error or did they really marry someone of the same name? 2. Samuel H. Bonner-he is listed in the 1870 census of Tucker County. Pg. 230 family number 56. He is living with Frank(Frederick) E. Jones. Amanda (Bonner)Jones, Sarah Bonner, Elizabeth Bonner, and George Jones. I have the 1870 index to WV census on C.D. It doesn't even have Samuel listed and so I though he had died also. Then one day I was checking the county page by page and there was Samuel Bonner. Well, it seems Broderbund has him listed as Samuel Banner! 3. Also there is no Solomon Bonner listed in the Broderbund index, but there he is on page 231 Tucker County, family number 70! 4. I have James William Bonner born 1853, son Of Solomon Bonner and Jane Bright. He married a Phoebe Catherine White, daughter of Allen White and Lydia Layton. So, it seems Christopher named his son, James, for his cousin? 5. Amanda Bonner's marriage to Frederick Jones, December 3, 1868 What dates do you have for her marriage to the Wade & White? My grandmother told me that she had married Joseph White after the Jones, because he raised George Jones. Also, if Elizabeth and Sarah Wade belong to Amanda, then, why aren't they listed in the 1870 census with her? There are a Sarah (age 11 or 18) and Elizabeth Bonner (3 or 5) listed. If they are Amanda's children then that would have made Amanda 10 when she had Sarah (if at age 11). I am not trying to throw a clob in the wheel of Bonner genealogy, I only want to be as accurate as possible. I would appreciate any info you have as far as documentation. [email protected]

    3. Most of the information I have on this family is from notes and charts that were hand-written by my mother-in-law or someone else in her family. A lot of it was hard to follow and may well be inaccurate, as I only copied it into my genealogy program to give me a starting point for research. A lot of the names I have entered are disconnected with only wife or children's names, etc., as I had no idea where they belonged. We are not directly related to the BONNERs, only the WHITEs. As for where the name "WADE" came from, it was written in a note, "His first wife died and in 1884 he married Amanda BONNER WADE daughter of Samuel BONNER. He served one term as constable in Dry Fork District in 1884." There is also another note, "Phoebe WHITE married Mr. BONNER." This note is referring to marriages of the children of Allen WHITE. If you have any information that would help me sort all this out, I would really appreciate it. At 08:00 PM 7/7/98 EDT, [email protected] wrote: >I also have an Amanda BONNER. 3. I have five BONNER's. ??--?? BONNER married to Phoebe WHITE, daughter of Joseph Allen WHITE and Susan HELMICK. James W. BONNER, Jr., married to Elizabeth CARR, daughter of Solomon CARR and Susanna SIMMONS. Sarah BONNER, married to Levigia WHITE. Amanda (Wade) BONNER, daughter of Samuel BONNER, married to Joseph Allen WHITE. Notes indicate that Joseph Allen WHITE's first wife died and then he married Amanda BONNER WADE in 1884. Joseph Allen WHITE was born in Hardy County and served almost four years in the Confederate Army. He served one term as constable in Dry Fork District in 1884. Notes in our history also indicate that the CARRs and the BONNERs came from Holland and congregated in these small forested valley areas and intermarried 3rd and 4th cousins. 3. I would like to insert a plea for any information about the lone WILMOTH in this list. My WILMOTH line, so far, stands alone. John WILMOTH (b. .29 Mar 1813 d. 31 Jan 1875) m. on 5 Oct 1833 Rebecca WALRAVEN (b. 17 Jul 1813 d. 31 Jan 1875) Their marriage was registered in Clermont County, Ohio. His name was spelled "WILMITH" and hers "WALRIVEN" in the record. They had ten children b. from 1834-1851: Samuel M.; James A.; Ann Maria; John E.; Sarah F.; Sally P.; Susan E.; Joseph Francis; Trifin (or Grifin, name unclear on Census Record); George M. -- all born in Batavia, Clermont Co., Ohio. John was a "riverboat man". We believe his forebears immigrated to New York, from England, then migrated along the rivers, probably to VA then OH. Their son, Joseph Francis WILMOTH (b.22 Aug 1850 d. 23 Mar 1902) m. on 12 Feb 1879 in Broadwell KY, Mary Elizabeth WARNOCK (b.20 Oct 1861 d. 28 Jan 1902). The family moved from KY to MO in 1881. They had seven children born from 1880-1894: Jessie L.; John Homer (both born Paris KY); Samuel M.; Joseph Stanley; Almira Myrtle; Mary Ethel; Robert Stanley (all b. Butler MO). My father was Samuel M. WILMOTH. I have been trying to connect my family with the extensive CURRANCE/ WILMOTH group from WVA, but have been unsuccessful, so far. My father told me that Joseph Francis WILMOTH had attempted to trace his family, but that needed records had been lost in a fire. My attempts to trace the family beyond John have also failed, though I did trace Rebecca WALRAVEN through her mother's family, SARGENT, to their immigration to MD in 1745. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Virginia. <[email protected]> On Mon, 06 Jul 1998 08:41:55 +0000 [email protected] writes: >Kevin- > I also have Lydia Steel(e) and William Currence. 3. I am new to the WVRANDOL-L mailing list. We seem to have some common ancestral names. My husband's grandfather was Jay Parsons WHITE (b.1880) married to Emeline Florence WOODFORD (b.1880), both of Dryfork, WV. Emeline's mother was Elizabeth CARR, but Emeline chose to use her real father's name of WOODFORD. Apparently, Elizabeth CARR married James W. BONNER after Emeline was born. We show many CARRs in this genealogy, but we can't straighten them out. If you could give us any insights, we would really appreciate it. I am also having trouble sorting out the WHITE names. Any help there would also be greatly appreciated. 2. You found a cousin. Jemima Wolford, m. John Carr, is the sister to my GGGgrandfather. The Carrs (and a lot of other Randolph names) are intermarried so many times it's confusing. I also saw the book (Bright Cousins) that linked Jemima's husband John Carr to Abigail Bright. Not too sure on that one. The dates seem to be a full generation off. With so many John Carrs around, it gets very confusing... Diane

(This is William McCan's son Samuel b 1815 who had married Jane Wyatt. This what I have on the Steele, Tenney Currence connection. Hope it is helpful to some out there....
