    1. Look Ups
    2. John Walden
    3. Hello fellow WV compatriots, I have birth, marriage and death records as well as listings of all cemeteries for Upshur Co. WV from their beginning in 1853 to around 1900. I can do look-ups for those that are not living in that area at the present time. Most of the cemetery listings are not indexed and they take quite a bit of time. So try not to flood me with too many requests of that type. John in CA

    3. Abel William Kelly and wife Jemima Kittle Kelly are my direct ancestors. I have him born 06 Jun 1787, son of William and Mary Kelly who also had another son named William Kelly who m 1798 Jean Kittle (also direct ancestors). I feel sure there were probably more children but I have never worked on this line except as how it came into my Kittles. I do have 23 children for Abel William & Jemima Kittle Kelly - that particular family tied into many lines of mine. I do not have a Hannah in my computer but I swear that name sounds familiar. William (father of Abel & William) was born in Ireland. 3. I am searching for the family of Hannah Kelley b. 1780's d. 1840's. She married Enoch Dean. Enoch's family had come from the Baltimore/Carroll county area of Maryland to Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania and about the time of their marriage they went to western PA. Their oldest child was named Abel W. Dean. As I have come across Abel W. Kelley in these areas, I wonder if there is a relationship. They could have been brother and sister. 2. Cathy Wilmot
    3. I am trying to find a new way to locate my John Paul Wilmot b. 1853 VA. I do not have any clues on parents/siblings. I realize oft-times it was the practice to use female surnames as middle names so I am lashing out in the dark with this query. My John Paul had several children but all with common given names except for the youngest....Virgil Winhour/Winehour Wilmot. Has anyone ever come across this uncommon surname? Thanks, even to those that can't help me. Cathy--

    1. WILMOTH/WINGFIELD
    2. Barbara Alexander
    3. Hello, Barbara; Sorry, all of my WILMOTH data comes from the area of Randolph Co., WV. Sandra in Sacramento ******************** Dear Sandra: I read with interest your message mentioning Wingfield. My ancestor, Lyman F. Rounds got into a brawl with a Jacob Wingfield in Clark County, AR in October of 1837. Lyman skipped the state never to be heard from again. Jacob stayed and "faced the music" and was prosecuted for assault and battery. Is there anything in your data concerning this event? I am trying to find any shred of connection or information on the child of Lyman Rounds, Ellen Rounds, who was subsequently given a guardian and taken away from her mother, Mary Rounds, and placed with the Hannen family in Clark Co., AR. I think this happened because the father skipped out and the courts didn't think Mary could take care of the child. Anyway, that is the mystery I am working on right now. Also, I am looking for a connection to researchers who are looking into or have information on the Joseph Brice Wilmeth b March 18, 1851 in TX and d January 5, 1897. His father was Frank Crawford Wilmeth b. 1805 and d. June 10, 1889 in Bell County, TX. Frank's claim to fame is that he had 30 children (3 wives with 10 children each). Thanks for any ideas/help. 1. NOTE from the list manager!!! 8^>
    2. Sandra D.UNCAN
    3. Hello; NOTE: In this message, you will see last names written differently. It is because I do not want these names to be accessed in the archives. The names found here will not do the archives researchers any good. As you see my name above written as D.UNCAN, so I will do to other names in my messages from time to time. ===================================================== Fall is here and in a lot of places, that means school has started. Many persons choose this time of the year to get back to genealogy. In anticipation of that, this is a gentle reminder that many of my lists are small and not very busy. So, if you want to see your list active, send us some data. Right now, all of my lists need a boost and that boost could be you and it could get you the data that you need. Right now, you can post once a week and you will not get a complaint from me. How about sending us your "BRICK-WALL", your toughest problem and see what happens. Also, the price of computers are still going down, almost monthly. So, we can expect many new subscribers around the first of the year. That is a good time to post. Please try to remember that many of those "NEWBIES" may not know "beans" about computers and/or genealogy and/or E-mail protocol so we can always be helpful to others. As some of you have seen, Traveller's was where I had my main data for others to access. Several months ago, I received a note from them saying that they were removing access to that kind of data from their servers because of complaints about the errors. This proved to be a big blow to me because I have not found a better place to put all of my data. Also, that data was when I only had 9500 names in my database and it made it so much easier to reply to persons. Makes you think twice about complaining and whineing!!! If you have been into genealogy for very long, you realize that all data must be checked and doubled checked. As a matter of fact, many of you may not realize that an old genealogy adage is to get 3 sources for all of your data. Also, when you get data from the INTERNET, you need to ask the persons for their sources because some addresses on the INTERNET change oftener than I change my unmentionables. So, that data is gone but I still have that same stuff at ancestry.com. It is just not as easy to access. Right now, I am busy putting in the documentation from Wingfield's History Of Caroline Co., VA and as it was written in 1927, it looks like he took a lot of M.INOR data from another book. So, if the other book had any errors, he has put them into his book. One last thing, sometimes I am not able to answer your messages right away. There can be many reasons for that. I have a two month backlog to catch up with, but I am working away at it daily. If you have reason to think that I have missed your message, please write again and again until I answer you. ================================================================= NOTE: I just received a message on one of my lists that seems worth of passing on: I have not checked the validity of this message myself, but I do plan to call the 800 number tomorrow. Free Genealogy Software I had a pleasant surprise at a local store several days ago. The CompUSA store near my home is giving away free copies of one of the most powerful genealogy programs available today (according to Compuserve's Genealogy Guru Dick Eastman). The word "free" is perhaps a bit questionable; but nonetheless, the final cost to consumers is zero. ALL CompUSA stores are selling The Ultimate Family Tree for Windows for $59.99. The same store also offers an "in store instant rebate" for $14.99 which has to be asked for sometimes (if they ring it up for the $59.99 regular price- have them check with their national headquarters at 1-800-278-4685 and verify that the skew # - 188406 - for the Ultimate Family Tree gives an instant rebate with ALL CompUSA stores thru Oct. 6, 1998). Therefore the purchaser must pay $45.00 to the cashier instead of $59.99. The store also has rebate forms printed by Palladium Interactive, producers of the Ultimate Family Tree. The buyer can fill out the form and mail it, all along with the cash register receipt and the UPC symbol from the box, to an address in Arizona. A few weeks later a check arrives in the mail for $45.00. That amount is the same amount handed to the cashier. Therefore, the final cost is zero (except for sales tax in your State for $45). Comment from Compuserve's Dick Eastman their Genealogy Guru: I have never been able to define which program is the "best" genealogy program for use by everyone. Different people have varying skill levels and interests, and I don't believe there is any one genealogy program that is perfect for everyone. However, if I were to create a list of today's top three or four genealogy programs, the Ultimate Family Tree by Palladium Interactive certainly would be on that list. It is one of the most powerful genealogy programs available today. For more information on the Ultimate Family Tree Program, look at: http://www.ultimatefamilytree.com/. ********************************************************************** Sandra in Sacramento ******************** Sandra [T.YLER] D.UNCAN {ôçô} purplevw @ sl.net (ô¿ô) •••PLEASE check with me before sending any attachments!!!••• My page is updated... http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/3577 Support RootsWeb!
