    2. Ginny, My Great Grandfather was Henry C. Pennington, not Henry C. Long. I know someone out there has information on Henry C. Pennington's family, I'm just hoping that they will share it. Now I'm starting to doubt if I found Henry's family. But, I still believe that Henry and Virginia were cousins. Henry and Virginia Pennington are my Great-Grandparents. Is there any Randolph County census records on line where I can do some more research, or any books I can purchase on Randolph County, West Virginia census with family information. Debbie Hi Debbie- I'm not a Pennington researcher but I was in the Randolph Co Marriages 1787 - 11923 when I saw your thread and I see there that Virginia C. Pennington (age 22) married Henry Clay Long (age 21) on 5 Apr 1895. Is this not your Virginia C. ? The latest census I have is 1870 and Solomon A. is 63 years old with 9 children including Solomon J. who is 24. I just couldn't resist throwing this out there so I'll leave quietly now, :-) Ginny -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [SMTP:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, March 21, 1999 2:40 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Henry C Pennington Dear Shaunta and Pennington Researchers, Thank you. This confirms that Henry C. Pennington's father was William Pennington and he had a brother Solomon J Pennington, sons of Solomon A. Pennington. Virginia C. Pennington's father was Solomon J. Pennington. So Henry and Virginia were cousins. They married about 1895. Now what group is this? Hi Debbie, I've been trying to follow your posts in the Pennington Group and Randolph County group. Did you receive info about who Henry C.'s dad is? Do you think that his dad is William, son of Soloman A. Pennington? If so, what is the source? I sent you some info about Soloman A. Pennington's children earlier this month. I relooked at the message and it shows that Soloman A. had sons named William and Soloman Judy Pennington. The sources for my Soloman A. Pennington info are: Fansler, History of Tucker County; Maxwell, Randolph County History; 1860 Tucker County Census; Mrs. Linnnie Adkins (someone my mother corresponded with years ago). I haven't seen any Randolph County censuses so I was interested in your last post to the Pennington group. It helps to verify some of my information. Thanks. We'll have to keep in touch. shaunta

    1. Cousins?
    2. >From the information I received yesterday, I think that Henry C. Pennington married his cousin, Virginia C. Pennington. The information I received as followed: 1880 Randolph Census has Henry C. Pennington age 8 grandson. Living in household of Solomon A. Pennington age 73 and wife Jane age 63. Son William age 39. Daughters Rebecca age 35, Jane age 20, Mary Elizabeth age 17 and grandchildren: Jesse age 13, Henry C. age 8, Sophia Elizabeth age 5 1/2 and unnamed granddaughter 1 1/2. If Solomon An is Henry's grandfather then is it possible that Solomon Judy Pennington and William Pennington are brothers. I can't find anything to connect the two. Only that Virginia C. Pennington's father was Solomon Judy Pennington and his father was Solomon A. Pennington. If this is so then Henry C. Pennington married his cousin Virginia C. Pennington. Debbie Britner

    1. Re: WVRANDOL-D Digest V99 #31-Dell and Huff, WV
    2. I apologize for a list answer. However, maybe others haven't found the wonderful map source at http://www.livgenmi.com/1895.htm. Ruth Bush-Highland asked for the locations of Dell and Huff WV. Dell is (was) in Upshur almost due southeast from Buckhannon near the Lewis County line half way to Hinklesville. It may now be covered by Stonecoal Lake. Huff is in Randolph, but I'll let you find this wonderful map source to pin point it. Total time to locate these villages (with post offices) 4 minutes with map. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [email protected] Let the Bible be your guide. What ever He asks, do it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    1. Re: CRITES
    2. Hi folks!!! Does anyone have old, maybe turn of the century , maps that might show any towns or communities call HUFF and DELL? We have a researcher from the Hackers Creek Pioneer Descendants lookin for this info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Ruth Bush-Highland This is his email question: I have been looking long and hard, lo these many years for the little villages of HUFF and DELL, principle towns of two of my GrandPappys. GD Bernard Herron was born'd in HUFF in 1858 and GGD ARCH HERRON up and died in DELL(winter summer marriage to SUSAN LINGER, for you Linger searchers.) in 1907. You can easily put me out of my agony, depression and and misery if you would get one down (that old map of course - this prose may cause you to want to get something else down but hold off a while) and find these once thriving communities for me. I have consulted the old WV "BLUE BOOKS" as far back as the early 30's with no luck.

    1. Channells
    2. Jean Loudin
    3. Does anybody know where the Joseph Channell than married Mahalia Yeager of present day Barbour Co fits in the family? The brother of the first Jeremiah in Randolph (Jeremiah died 1797) was a Joseph, but he did not marry her. In 1840 in Licking Co., Ohio there is a deed of a Joseph and Mahala Channell deeding land to an Isom Channell, so there is no doubt that is where this couple went after marrying. Is it possible this is another son of the first Jeremiah Channell of Randolph? Especially since Joseph and John, brothers to the Jeremiah Channell of Randolph also settled in Licking Co., Ohio? SMITH or MC GUAIN ?? Can anyone tell me if the cemeteries in Pendleton and/or Randolph Counties have been read and if so where I might be able to access this information. Can any one make some suggestion as to where to look next? because of living in Michigan I rely on the family history center and usually one quick trip a year to WV so like to plan ahead on what direction my research is headed next. Thanks for reading this far Shirley

    3. I am searching for the parents of a Berry Evans who was supposedly born in Randolph county in Feb of 1834. He apparently left there in the early 1850s as he was married in Missouri 25 Apr 1853 and later in 1853 homesteaded in Oregon. Dan Capps [email protected]

    1. Family Reunion in August
    2. dahamri
    3. The annual Pioneer Family Reunion will be held, as has been traditional for more than a half century, on Point Mountain in Webster County, WV, on Aug. 22, 1999. There will be a difference this year though. On Sunday morning, there will be a dedication of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, established in 1841, as a family research center. The church is on the Bergoo Road one-half mile from its intersection with WV Rt. 15. This reunion was the gathering place in the past of Hamricks, Gregorys, Dodrills, Chapmans, Cogars, Millers, Rigglemans and Mollohans and their friends. In more recent years, it has been carried on by Hamricks and a few Gregorys and Dodrills. This reunion once attracted 5,000 to 10,000 people and has dwindled to a couple hundred. It would be our great hope that we can begin to see it grow instead of decline. Your help and attendance can go a long way toward doing that. I am founder and secretary of a non-profit organization that acquired the Pleasant Grove Church for use as a Pioneer Family History museum and research center. I also happen to be chairman of the reunion this year. We want very much to present a genealogical program in the afternoon that will feature Dodrills and Gregorys, as recent ones have been devoted almost exclusively to Hamricks (even if I are one!). Of course, the truth is that we all are related. We will relay details about the programs as they develop. We publish a newsletter once or twice a year about activities relating to the preservation of family history. The newsletter is free. It does contain a solicitation of funds. But no contriubtion is required to get it. If you would like a copy of this newsletter, usually sent out in May, please send your name, postal address and phone number and we will put you on the list. If you have already been receiving it, you are on the list. If you have questions, please contact me at [email protected] or my wife >at [email protected] DAN HAMRICK 402 23RD STREET NW CANTON OH 44709 PHONE AND FAX: 330-454-2376
