Does anyone know where the Greenwood Cemetery is located? I just discovered a death record for a relative in the Randolph County Courthouse. It states this relative is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery. Is this cemetery in Elkins? She was living in Elkins when she died. Also, does anyone have any connections to Bernard Augustus Twigg and Cassandra Smith Twigg? She died in Feb 1928 in Elkins. There was a son names William Benton Twigg. The person providing the death information to the courthouse was C W Twigg. (Another son maybe??????) If you have any information, either on the cemetery or Bernard and Cassandra, William and or C W Twigg, please e mail me at [email protected] Thank you. Darlene Orts

Can some one tell me who John Rowan is? Is he a court clerk that marries people ? Is he a minister of a early Church? I found that he is the person listed that married William Taylor and Sarah Clark and would like to know if anyone knows anything about him. Rita Goodwin
I was just at the court house and found a deed in 1818 for Willis Taylor and the land was located in Darby Run, can some one tell me where that is located? I have a map that has all of the runs, but they are not indexed and so far, I haven't located where it is. He is buried near Valley Head, is Darby Run near there? Rita Goodwin

I seen listed on a webpage that he "settled in Pendleton County," Does this mean he came over from England or Ireland? >> I would guess at German ancestry before England or Ireland. I have Teters and Wolfords that came from the PA and settled into the Pendleton County area. They were from German roots. Remember also, during that time, Virgina/West Virginia consisted of only a few large counties... If someone bought land in one county...100 years later, it could very well be listed in another county...

Pennington, and Virginia C. Pennington, were cousins who married. This comes pretty close to what my father was telling me, but he thought they were brother and sister. As hard as it is to accept, cousins did marry back in "the good ole days." >> From my own personal research into lines in the 1700s, marriages between cousins was not uncommon. I have many descendents on all sorts of lines.... Looks at Plymouth, Massachusetts. LOTS of family ties. European nobility was worse that what America ever did... One king was related to himself 17 different ways...!
