Hi List, I am searching for the parents of Sarah Neilson (Foreneilson) married Samuel Bringham 1794 Randolph Co. Her father is listed as John Neilson. The LDS site gives a John Nelson (Forneilson) b 1749 Huttonsville,Randolph Co with a wife Sarah Skidmore b c 1753 and one daughter Mary b 1775 in Randolph Co. Is there anyone on the list that has more information? I would appreciate your help. Thanks, Leo
Hi Sorry to post to whole list but I don't have address for listowner. I am getting duplicates of all messages from the Randolph County list and have been for a few months. I had hoped the problem would go away as it suddenly appeared. I thought maybe there had been a problem and a backup was used to restore the list names. Anyway my old address (which my ISP was forwarding the messages to me from it and supposedly quit January 1, 1999) was [email protected] and if it still appears in your records needs to be deleted. My current address is [email protected] If you can help me only get one message, I would appreciate it. Thanks Barbara W. Harvey
Don't know if this is Absolem PRITT's father or not, but the information may be helpful. Absolem PRITT is listed on the same page in the 1880 census with a William PRITT. They were living in the Beverly District. William PRITT's entry is as follows: PRITT, William, 69, farm laborer, born in VA, as were both his parents Elizabeth, 68, wife, born in VA, as were both her parents Sallie, 33, daughter, born in VA KITTLE, Mary (widow), 41, daughter, born in VA Kittle, French, 21, grandson, farm laborer, born in VA, as were both his parents Kittle, Eli, 18, grandson, farm laborer, VA Kittle, Edmonia, 16, granddaugher, at home, WV Hope this helps! Are you sure that this is your great-grandmother's grave? Could there be more than one Margaret Talbott? The reason I ask is that I found a reference to a Margaret Talbott Wamsley in "Barbour County West Virginia Book of Deaths I 1853-1919 and Will Books 1 and 1-1/2, 1839-1889" by Mary Semple Coffman. The reference is to a description of the Will of Elisha TALBOTT. The Will was dated February 24, 1876 and probated May 29, 1880. The summary of his Will is as follows: "ELISHA TALBOTT, Barbour County, WV. Wife - Sarah; Sons - Wm. C., Robert R., Elam, Edwin S., Isaac D., Irvin F; Daughters - Josephine, Elizabeth wife of Addison Reed, Margaret wife of George Wamsley, Angeline wife of Wm. B. Woodford. Executors - Isaac D. and Robert R. Talbott, sons. Witnesses - J. W. Bosworth, E.D. Talbott, Lewis Wilson. Wife $1,000 and household goods, $400 to Josephine, rest equal to children." This Margaret Talbott was married to Mr. Wamsley at the time Elisha Talbott's will was written (1876), so she might not be your great-grandmother. But she could be the person who is buried in the cemetery. In Tucker County, on Dec. 26, 1893, a Jasper WAMSLEY, age 23, son of George and Margaret Wamsley, married Anna Hovatter, age 19 (no parents listed). This probably only makes things more complicated for you!!! My great-grandmother, Syrena Margaret Talbott, born 1846, died 27 March 1908, married, after the death of my great-grandfather, John Alonzo (?George) Gibson on 05 October 1881. She is buried in Montrose Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Montrose, Randolph County, West Virginia. Even though her name was Gibson at the time of her death, her tombstone says "Wamsley"; I don't know if Gibson was living at the time of her death or not. Does anyone know anything about the marriage between Margaret Talbott and Gibson and whether or not they had children? Wanda Wamsley Balducci

I'm most interested in finding out more about Simon/Simeon HARRIS. I have a Simon Harris son of Elisha Harris and Margaret McCormick. His exact birthdate is unknown, however Elisha and Margaret were married in Fauquier Co, VA in 1780. Elisha died in Morgan Co OH in 1824 where he left a will naming a Simon as a son. Elisha and Margaret had the following children:William, John, Betsy, George, Simon, Mary, Anna, Sally, Stephen, Hannah, Morgan, Elijah. Stephen from the above list married Mary Headley location unknown. Mary was born in Randolph Co in 1803. Mary's older sister Phebe married 1815 in Randolph Co, Va to Jonas Poling. Mary's older brother Isaac married Elizabeth Wilson in 1809 in Randolph Co. Both marriages were preformed by Simeon Harris. It looks like Simeon Harris' name was first on the marriage records for Randolph co in 1809. Is there a connection? I'd love to know more about this Simeon Harris Shannon Moore Orlando, FL mailto:[email protected]
Christina and Mary Ann's father was known as John Cross the Hession. Very little is known about him. It is said that he married 3 times and had 10 children by each wife. His third wife is supposed to be Barbara Booher, but Jeff Harris suspects it might be a Barbara Moore. Further investigation is needed on this line. As for the line being Indian I haven't heard about that. Sandy Lewis Moonstar wrote: > > Thanks Sandra, I come from George and Christina Cross Harris.
