An indenture dated July27, 1801 between Jacob Nelson for himself and also by Virtue of a Letter of Attorney to him duly executed by John Crouch and Sarah his wife (Heirs at Law of the Estate of Charles Nelson late of the said county of Randolph who died intestate) of Bourbon Co KY dated Dec 15, 1795 recorded in the court of Bourbon Co KY sold to Jonathan Hutton a tract of land being part of the 1000 acres originally granted by Patent from Commonwelath of VA to James ___, Joseph Crouch, Andrew Crouch and Charles Fornelson in Tygarts Valley, Randolph Co VA. The tract contained 269 1/2 acres. The LDS records also read that Mary Nelson wife of Major John Crouch died Nov 19, 1834 at Huttonsville, Randolph Co VA. This is probably John Crouch Sr. Leoneita

Hannah is the reason I have interest in this SMITH family. She is the down line from the original ancestor, Georg Heinrich (Henry "Roebuck" KARR) CARR, b 1721 in Germany. I have 3 more generations on them in Germany. It takes us back to 1620 or so. Hannah Susan Carr is d/o John and Abigail CARR John is s/o of the above Henry. Also in the "Bright Cousin" book, the author states states that John Carr's first wife was Jemima Wolford, daught of John Wolford and Elizabeth Woolever. When I look at the dates, however, there seems to be a whole generation off. Jemima married John Carr, but she was born in 1809 or 1801, depending on sources. There are enough John Carr's in these counties to be confusing..... Regards, Diane
