Washington LILLY born 03 Oct 1815 (Giles? Monroe?), died 10 Oct 1895 in WV. >From the Lilly Family History, 1980 ed., p. 15: "Washington (Kinney) Lilly, was born 1814, a son of Edmond (1) and Edith (Meador) Lilly. He married Polly Mann; the marriage bond is dated November 17, 1835, and recorded in Giles County, Virginia. They settled on a farm near Dunns, West Virginia, where they accumulated through thrift and good management, a large amount of land and other property. Their children were: Lucinda, who married William H. Nelly MANN was born ca. 1813 in VA, and married James W. LILLY (brother of Washington Kinney LILLY) on 15 Feb 1830 in Giles Co., VA. James W. LILLY was born ca. 1806, and died ca. 1862. James and Nelly LILLY also show up in the 1850 and 1860 Censuses for Mercer Co. (W)VA. Does anyone know the specific MANN family from which Polly comes? I find MANN in Monroe, Mercer, Giles, Greenbrier, etc. Who was Rachel MANN, the mother of Polly? Would appreciate hearing from anyone who might recognize these families.
