A generous gentleman (I haven't yet asked permission to list his name) has offered the following, which I think is immensely intersting and important. It is in regards to the son of Rufus WILEY, as I'd posted in my earlier transmission. The son's initials were B. F. WILEY. Other kind researchers had suggested Benj Franklin WILEY for the initials, but this gentleman seems to offer more on the subject. Additionally, he offers what might be Rufus WILEY's occupation; either that, or Beecher WILEY's friends and associates were fond of Rufus and attended his funeral because of that. Here we go: << Hi Lainie, I am not going to be of any help in your research but I can answer one of your questions. B. F. Wiley's first name was Beecher. When Rufus died I was a Junior at Shady Springs High School and went to school with one of Beecher's daughters. It's been too many years so I can't right off hand come up with her name but may think of it later although you probably don't need or want it. After I graduated from high school I went to work on the Railroad and worked with Beecher for a number of years. I also note that the Pallbearers for Rufus were Engineers, conductors firemen and brakemen on the RR for the most part. DR Banks was the company physician at West Raleigh Coal Co... Beecher was well known and well liked but I did not know Rufus. Hill I do understand that it is very possible that either Emily or Samuel could have been the natural parent of Rufus. There could have been any number of reasons behind his taking the WILEY surname...adoption, foster-child, surname of his father, etc. I am just dying to know how he fits into my LILLY clan, and if he does, then that also links him to my MEADOR and MEADOWS lines, and a host of others.
