I don't recall saying that having a map was stupid, and my answer certainly was NOT, on the contrary it will HELP find those secondary roads, and even those dirt roads, for example when I was looking for old cemeteries I got a county map and every dirt road and lane was marked on the map, I stand by my statement, get a road map of the states you research and look for these small towns, mark them with a highlighter, SEE where your folks lived and the proximity to their cousins ~S
