I have a booklet entitled "The New River Company" published in 1976. I found a note that the Whipple mine closed in 1957. It had opened prior to 1905. I have located a picture of the Whipple coal community with the store in front. The picture is ca 1910. Another picture is of the Whipple coal plant taken about 1908. One additional picture is a 1920's scene of cars parked in front of the store. Nyla
