    2. Moten, Sandra K
    3. Gracie and everyone. My moten's (morton) and plumley seem to be between Summers and Raleigh County depending on where they were renting at the time the child was born. Most of James Moten Children were born between Montgomery and Giles County Virginia, between 1856 and 1880. In 1880, James moved all of his two living children (and several of his children had died as well) to Summers County. WV. Out of these were John Moten (he spelled the family name Morton). and Samuel Edward Moten. Samuel was my grandfather on my father side. It was his children that were born between Raleigh and Summers County. He finally settled in Jumping Branch and raised nine sons. One (James Dorsey) died at not quite one year old in Hinton, West Virginia. The rest were Earl, Frank, Bill, Charlie (one one still living and living on the old homestead at Jumping Branch, West Virginia), my father Carl Thomas, Robert, Code, and George) John Morton, moved to the Raleigh County Area and married India Frazier and they had six daughter. There children are scatter thru Raleigh and Summers County. One grandchild I know married and came to Florida. ( I don't have any of the information, going from Memory) James had a son and daughter that either died or married and stayed in Virginia which James brought the rest of his kids to Summers County, WEST VIRGINIA. The were Charles T. (possibles Thomas) Morton (Moten) and Angelina Morton (Moten). They would had been old enough to stay behind. The other children were: Lucy W., James, Elizabeth, Eliza, Cora, and some other and I can't think of them right now. James Morton, father of Samuel, was in the Civil war for 7 to 9 months depending on record. In the 1890 Special Census he was apparently dead, for Lucy was listed as a Widow, who was applying for a Pension and was denied. According to my mother James didn't like Summer County and went back to Virginia. I do not know where and when he died. The 1890 Special Census stated that Lucy had a P.O. Box at Camp Creek, West Virginia. She is not listed in the 1900 Census. She was either dead (don't know where or when) or living with one of her daughter, for she was not with her sons, checked that. Samuel married Sarah Elizabeth Roxie Jane Plumley, who went by Roxie or Roxie Jane. Her father was George Washington Plumley. I only know of Roxie. Does any one know that Plumley family, because George and his brother were born in Raleigh county - There father was also name George Washington Plumley. Any help in this will be appreciated. As well as any corrections as well. Sorry I could give you better information, but I don't have my information at work.
