Courtesy of the Botkin Funeral Home web site _http://www.botkinfuneralhome.com_ (http://www.botkinfuneralhome.com) James Buddy Canaday, age 69, of Beaver, Ohio, went to be with his Lord 9:30 P.M. Friday, June 30, 2006, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, O. He was born March 4, 1937 in Slabfork, W. Va., a son of the late Jesse and Sirrilda Canaday Collins. On June 6, 1962 he was united in marriage to Delores Allen Canaday who survives. Also surviving are one daughter and son in law Tim and Pam Hattle of Beaver, O., three grandchildren, Jared, Timothy, and Courtney Hattle, five sisters, Dorthey Collins of Delaware, O., Eula Coulter of Crab Orchard, W.Va., Zora (Leonard) Tackett of Franklin Furnace, O., Dora (Jim) Frick of Hemphill, Texas, and Louise Scott of Waverly, O., two step brothers, George (Marilyn) Collins of Beaver, O., and Dave (Florence) Collins of Sophia, W.Va., and one step sister, Rozina Farmer of Midway, W.Va.. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Junior, Russell, and Joy Canaday, three sisters, Bonnie McDaniel, Helen Pyle, and Norma Acord, step father, Sonnie Collins, two step brothers, Junior and Virgil Collins, and two step sisters, Ann Lee Davis and Mabel Carpenter. Buddy was owner & operator of J.B. Construction Co., was a member of Allen Chapel Church, member of Carpenters Union Local #437, served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962, served as Mayor of Beaver, O. from August 8, 1994 to December 4, 1996, served as Beaver Council member from May 5, 1982 to August 8, 1994, and was a former Democratic Committeeman for Marion Township. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday at Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly, with Pastors, Fred Williams and Donnie Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Allen Chapel Cemetery with military graveside services by Merritt Post #142, American Legion, of Waverly. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
