Just to name a few James Wriston,& Joseph Workman GL Williams: There were a lot of units that men from Raleigh & surrounding counties joined during the Civil War. Some served with the 22nd VA Infantry, & the 30th Battalion VA Sharpshooters, CSA. Some served with the 7th WV Cavalry, USA. There were many men who participated as Partisan Rangers or in the Home Guard. In my family, ggg Uncle William Peters left Raleigh County, where he is found in the 1850 census, traveled back to Franklin County, VA & joined up with the 57th VA Infantry, CSA. He would die at Gettysburg. Where did James Wriston & Joseph Workman live? If you need, I have references for the 7th WV Cavalry, 22nd VA Infantry, 30 Battalion VA Sharpshooters, Boone County soldiers & probably a few others I am forgetting. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Mike Peters [email protected]
