While doing lookups in Jim Wood's book, I came across Daniel Shumate II. Can we make a list of the Roman Numeral Daniels (I believe it is I-V) & list their wives, so as to differentiate? Can anyone confirm that these are correct? 1-Daniel Shumate I ca 1734- 1806 & Sarah Ann James ca 1739 2-Daniel Shumate II 1755-1826 & Millicent Callison 1758-1841 3-Daniel Shumate III 1777-1853 & Elizabeth Ellison 4-Daniel Dhumate IV & Cynthia Mercer Peters 1828-1905 I also have a Daniel Shumate, listed son of Mark Hardin Shumate and Elizabeth Leach. Mark Hardin being the son of Daniel II and Millicent. This isn't my line but I would like to make sure I have them correct. The information that I have on the Shumate family is from the "Smith-Riffe Collection of the New River Genealogy and History". A monumental work began in the mid 1930's by Aubrey O. Smith and Judge Winton A. Riffe and was a collection that delt with 207 families who do or have resided in the counties bordering the New River in WV and western VA, and several others, including Wyoming and Boone Co., WV. The collection was transfered to 16 reels of 35mm microfilm by the Genealogical Socitey of Utah in 1979 and is available in numerous libraries and archives, such as the Raleigh Co. Library, Beckley, WV; WV Archives and History Library, Charleston, WV; Library of VA, Richmond, VA; Roanoke Public Library, Roanoke, VA; DAR Library, Washington, DC. Thank you.
