    1. [WVRALEIG] Jim Wood's Book and Raleigh Co sites of interest
    2. I thought at the time the book was a bit pricey but have reconsidered. It is very well written and has a lot of information in it. Well worth the money. Ed: I agree! My favorite parts of the book are the section on Raleigh County pioneers & Raleigh County in the Civil War. This book is loaded! Sincerely, Mike Peters Folks: I have to agree that it seems a bit pricey. Just having the information on Raleigh County in the Civil War is worth the price of the book. Did you know we had both Union and Confederate soldiers from Raleigh County? Brothers were fighting against brothers. In August 1950, a special centennial issue of the Raleigh Register was published. Most of the articles in that issue on the earlier settlers, communities, the 1850 census, etc., are on the Raleigh County GenWeb page. If you've not read them yet, you may find them interesting. Check out "Newspaper Clippings." http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvraleig/ Gracie, who is our list coordinator, is also the county coordinator for the Raleigh County GenWeb site. Take a look at all the interesting information on her site. Another site is the Raleigh County Biographies. Check it out. "Mike's Meanderings" are archived there. The 1880 Raleigh County census is located there. And the 1890 Special Enumeration scans are there. This is the site that I maintain. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvrcbiog/ Both Gracie and I welcome articles of interest on Raleigh County. If you're not certain which one of us should get the article, send it to either of us. We'll figure out where it fits best. Thanks much. Nyla http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nylasgenealogy/
