The Charleston Daily Mail Charleston, West Virginia February 11, 1941 John Burton Clay ---- Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Damron church for Mr. Clay, 33-year-old miner of Damron, who was killed Monday morning by a slate fall in the Colcord Coal company mine at Stickney. Burial in the family cemetery at Damron will be under charge of the Valley mortuary of Whitesville. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Stella Clay; a son, John Burton, Jr., a daughter, Susie; two step children, Billy Ray and Frances; his mother, Mrs. William Clay of Damron; four brothers, Marvin, Hubert and Quincy Clay of Damron, and Tom Clay of Maynor; three sisters, Mrs. Gene Roberts of Maynor and Mrs. Vernon Carter and Miss Magdalene Clay of Damron; a half-sister, Mrs. Sam Sink of McDonald and three half-brothers, Gulf, Averill and Oley Clay, all of McDonald.
