    3. Transcribed by Rita O'Brien The Charleston Daily Mail Charleston, West Virginia January 18, 1933 John Earl Clay, 25 years old, of Mt. Tabor, who was fatally wounded while handling a gun in the home of M. E. Scalf, at Eccles Sunday evening when the weapon was accidently discharged and bullet lodged in his abdomen, died in a hospital Monday night. Before his death the youth said he was loading the magazine of a .32 caliber automatic when it was discharged. Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Tabor church Wednesday. Burial was in the church yard. Beside his mother, Mrs. Maggie Clay, he leaves two brothers, Dennis H. Clay and Roscoe Clay, and two sisters, Mrs. Noah Daniel, and Miss Daisy Clay, all of Mt. Tabor.
