Transcribed by Nyla CREED DePauk 10 Feb 1930 Charleston Daily Mail Charleston, West Virginia BOIL CAUSES DEATH Beckley Lawyer Succumbs to Complications BECKLEY, Feb. 10 -- McDonald Franklin McGinnis, 25 years old, widely known young lawyer of this city, died at a local hospital this morning of blood poisoning and pneumonia after an illness of a week. The poisoning grew from an infected boil. Mr. McGinnis was a son of the late T. J. McGinnis, former judge of the Raleigh county criminal court, and a nephew of W. H. McGinnis, former judge of the state supreme court of appeals. He was a graduate of Beckley high school; Fishburn Military school, Waynesboro, Va., West Virginia university, and of the Cumberland law school, Lebanon, Tenn. He was admitted to the Raleigh county bar in 1928. He was unmarried. Mr. McGinnis was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity and was affiliated with the local Elks lodge. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Virgie McGinnis, and a sister, Miss Mary E. McGinnis.
