Transcribed by Rita O'Brien The Charleston Daily Mail Charleston, West Virginia January 29, 1941 Head Struck Top of Wall While Riding on Car Marvin Allen Dickens, 28-year-old miner of Stickney, was fatally injured while riding a Colcord Coal company mine engine at Montcoal when his head struck a low place in the mine passageway. He died en route to a hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Montcoal Baptist church. Rev. Mrs. W. T. Hood will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Spring Hill, with the Valley mortuary of Whitesville in charge. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marie Dickens: three children, Joan, Peggy and Marvin Dickens, Jr.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Dickens of Marfork; two sisters, Misses Anna and Patsy Dickens; six brothers, Carrison, James, Elmer, Connie, Quinton, and Denver Dickens, all of Marfork.
