    2. Charleston Daily Mail Charleston, WV 3 Nov 1932 EXPLOSION HERO IS HEART VICTIM Stotesbury Mine Foreman Dies Unexpectedly at His Home BECKLEY, Nov. 3 -- Charles N. Able, 46 years old, assistant mine foreman at Stotesbury, was stricken with a heart attack and died before medical aid could be summoned at his home in Stotesbury yesterday. Able was acclaimed a hero by his employees for his work in helping to rescue entombed miners in an explosion at the mine in December 1929. Funeral services will be conducted from the Stotesbury church tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial park near Beckley. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ida Able, and eight children, James, Alma, Ella Mae, Carl, Effie, Marie, Mary, and Charles Able, Jr., and Mrs. Jack Hill, all of Stotesbury; three sisters, Mrs. George Miller, Mrs. William Earls, and Mrs. Orville Dickens, and a brother, John Able.
